TITLE:         Mgr Technology Operations

POSITION CONCEPT 

 

The Manager of Technology Operations serves in a crucial role ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our IT infrastructure. Leads team responsible for managing and building storage systems, compute resources, backup solutions, and the daily operations of that infrastructure.  Manager of Technology Operations uses strategic thinking, technical expertise, and leadership skills in order to be instrumental in maintaining a resilient and efficient IT environment.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
1.    Oversee the implementation and operations of storage and compute systems on premises or in the cloud.  Lead the team of compute and storage professionals and ensure their skillsets and knowledge are current. 25%
2.    Ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of infrastructure components and execute strategies for capacity planning, lifecycle and resource optimization. 10%
3.    Implement and manage backup and resiliency solutions to safeguard data integrity and ensure organizational availability. 10%
4.    Ensure infrastructure currency, resiliency and patch management.  Generate regular reports on infrastructure performance, backup status, and operational metrics.  15%
5.    Provide guidance and support to team members in troubleshooting and resolving issues. 10%
6.    Maintain and comply with corporate security best practices to protect data and infrastructure from threats. 10%
7.    Manage outsourced vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements. 10%


RELATIONSHIPS

Key Internal:      Director of Operations, Cybersecurity Team, ITSM Team, Application teams. Architecture

Key External:     Hardware Manufacturers, Software vendors, Service Integrators, Managed Service providers 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 
Education 
Required:     Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or related field.        

Preferred:     Current or past technical certifications (such as: CISCO, ITIL, Microsoft, COBIT, NIST, TOGAF, Cyber Security, etc.)

Experience 
Required:     Eight (8) years of experience required, to include technical proficiency, planning acumen, architecture, cybersecurity, compliance and operations. 

Preferred:         Experience in managing Data Centers/Architecture  


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA) 
Required:     Requires overall awareness of cloud and compute and storage environments, the industry, vendor management, operations management and ITIL. Possesses business and technical acumen and the ability to influence customers, team members, and management.  Has a process-driven and continuous improvement focus. Budgeting, inventory, and cost-management skills. Experience working both independently, and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Interpersonal, coaching and project management skills.

 

Preferred:     ITIL, cloud, overall planning skills, TOGAF, ITIL

 
Working Conditions 
24X7 responsibility to maintain operation of critical assets. Deadlines, compliance, pressure from the 
business is likely.

Physical Demands
Frequent periods standing or sitting in the same location. Occasionally required to stoop or lift light 
material or equipment.
