Storm Duty Requirements

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

TITLE:                 Technology Analyst Sr., Progression

POSITION CONCEPT:
The Technology Analyst Sr (also known as Lead) works independently on all phases of business process analysis and redesign. Translate high-level business requirements into functional specifications and manage changes to such specifications. They formulate and define scope and objectives for assigned projects. Lead or participate in software implementation projects. Serves as the technical expert of the Technical Application team and is responsible for documenting standard operating procedures and training less experienced analysts. Work under general direction of the Supervisor Technical Applications and serve as back up for the supervisor when needed.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.    Provides support for moderately complex business processes, applications and interfaces crossing multiple platforms and databases, making recommendations, coordinating resources, and facilitating implementation of changes to processes or software to avoid future problems. (20%)
2.    Leads diverse, medium sized, complex technical projects (i.e. evaluation of current processes, automation, and software applications) with a focus on providing technological solutions in alignment with business and strategic plans. (10%)
3.    Creates complex reports crossing multiple databases and platforms. Provides data to users as requested. Monitors supported applications to ensure data integrity and accuracy. (20%)
4.    Defines scope for medium sized project tasks, including time and cost estimates for assigned tasks, and provides consultation of scope definition. (10%) 
5.    Serves as a liaison between ED and other technical groups, develops relationships with key customers including face-to-face, on-site interactions, and meets/communicates with end-users and stakeholders to provide timely and accurate information and updates. (10%)
6.    Participates in feasibility studies and research to prepare cost / benefit justifications for technology solutions.  Assist with determining and secure appropriate technical and business team members resources to facilitate successful completion of approved projects.  Works with business leaders and acts as a liaison between supported business areas and programming team members  and / or vendors. (10%)
7.    Responsible for the collection, analysis, review, documentation and communication of business needs and requirements to IT programming and other technical team members. Provide input in the prioritization of technology related projects. (10%)
8.    Utilizes leadership skills to regularly provide technical direction, instruction, guidance and monitoring of less experienced Technology Analyst team members and resolve issues to ensure goals and requirements are met. (10%)

 

SUPERVISION
Indirect:    May lead other Technology Analysts

 

RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:      Interfaces with all levels of management and team members.
External:     Interfaces with information technology vendor representatives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Education 
Required:    High school diploma or equivalent.  
Preferred:    Associate’s Degree in business or related technology field.
    An Associate or Bachelor Degree may substitute for some years of experience.
                    
Licenses/Certifications 
Preferred:        Project Management Profession (PMP) Certification.

 

Experience 
Required:        7 years experience with electrical grid, electrical distribution or transmission 
Preferred:        Experience with high-level Electric Delivery computer systems support and successful project management.  

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 
Required:
•    Proficient in development fundamentals

•    Knowledge of power flow across electrical grid transmission and distribution devices and systems
•    Ability to learn surrounding control room functions and workflows
•    Knowledge of work management systems and workflows with the ability to baseline test results
•    Knowledge of resource management systems and workflows with the ability to baseline test results
•    Knowledge of GIS systems and workflows
•    Ability to provide end-user support or process analysis related to geographic information systems, work management systems, energy management systems, or outage management systems
•    Proficient in writing queries and reports with knowledge of related technical applications
•    Proficient in customer service principles to provide technology enabled information and solutions across electric delivery operations and business functions
•    Providing proactive written and oral communication
•    Exercising good judgement and making logical decisions
•    Problem solving and providing end-user support
•    Managing projects and allocating resources
•    Assessing performance and providing feedback
•    Exercising attention to detail and time management
•    Taking initiative to learn and source information independently

Preferred:    
•    Knowledge of Tampa Electric’s unique power grid and systems    
•    Knowledge of electrical transmission/distribution modeling practices
•    Proficient in risk management related to data privacy, specifically implementing data protection measures to safeguard customer information, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and mitigating risks associated with data breaches.
•    Skilled with any of the following technical applications: Standard Query Language (SQL), Report Writing Tool, Oracle PLSQL Developer, SAP ERP, SAP CRB, GTech, Work Pro, Arcos RA Light, Arcos Smart, Arcos Crew Manager, Arcos Callout, or Info Maker (Sysbase Report Writing Tool)

 

WORKING CONDITIONS     
Work is primarily performed sitting at a desk operating a computer for 80-90% of the workday in an office environment.
