POSITION CONCEPT: 
The Supervisor Facility Services is responsible for supervising internal and external resources for the operation and maintenance of facility and building related systems for TECO Energy facilities as well as improvement projects.  Develop and implements the department’s plan for operational activities to achieve a reduction in unplanned work and overtime expenses, and an increase in preventive maintenance work. Serves as backup supervisor to union-covered operations team members, including emergency calls. Supports department’s maintenance of the work management (Workman) and SAP systems. Develops, implements, and maintains processes to ensure asset integrity, operational readiness, NERC, and State environmental compliance. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee development and implementation of detailed job plans, including contractor maintenance routines.  Performs complex planning work required to identify business drivers using business analytics and report to management on department’s core activities.  Complex planning work utilizes cost control methods to manage work within the budget
  • Leads all aspects of Facilities Services capital improvement plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Directs, develops, and trains a team of coordinators to lead grounds, building & facility improvement projects and interior office space planning & small construction activities.
  • Plans, coordinates, and assigns work for the Facility Services project coordinators and contractors. Serves as backup to Facility Services Supervisors for leadership of union-covered team members, in their absence and for emergency calls or storm season activity.
  • Provides consulting services on office space planning, office relocations and remodeling throughout TECO Energy and oversight to TECO Plaza’s Building Management regarding operational and organizational issues.
  • Ensures compliance with Safe Work Practices, Safety Programs (including Contractor Safety Management Program) and department compliance with applicable Environmental regulations for employees and contracted personnel working in and around TECO facilities. 
  • Responsible for contracted services teams for grounds, building, & facility maintenance, keeping all properties up to customer, department, and company standards.
  • Serves as Facility Services Storm Plan leader for emergency preparedness, response, and restoration for Tampa Electric Company facilities.
  • Serves as back up to the Facility Services Manager and represents the department to perform other leadership duties as assigned (i.e., resolving external customer complaints, etc.).


EDUCATION:
Required: Associate’s degree or technical degree from an accredited college or university (Related job experience can be considered in lieu of degree).
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university (ie. Engineering, business, accounting, etc.)

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Preferred: General Contractor’s License; Professional Engineer License; PMP (Project Management Professional) certification; or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) certification is highly desirable.


EXPERIENCE:
Required: A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated journey-level experience in a skilled trades position in the following areas: electrical, HVAC/refrigeration, plumbing, or general trades or five (5) years of experience in heavy industrial environment.

Preferred: Minimum of two (2) years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this position within an in-house Facility support organization.  Building construction, space planning and office design experience in progressively more complex assignments.  Experience with contract negotiations and contract execution highly desirable.


SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:

Required: A minimum three (3) years of direct or indirect leadership experience (demonstrated ability to lead people or projects).

Preferred: Five (5) years of direct supervisory experience.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Working knowledge of a work management system and resource planning and scheduling.  General knowledge of a Facility Services operations & maintenance environment and structure. Must possess analytical skills and the ability to coordinate and lead projects.  Working knowledge of union operating environments. Familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.  Good communication skills. General knowledge of financial accounting and budget systems.

Preferred: Working knowledge of Tampa Electric’s work management system (Workman), SAP, and proficient in resource planning and scheduling.  Working knowledge of a Facility Services operations & maintenance environment and structure.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of financial accounting and budget systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 
Work hours may exceed 40 hours per week and require employee to work at night and on weekends.  Some work is executed indoors, outdoors, and around hot and audible equipment.  Some work may be performed in inclement weather including severe heat, cold and rainy conditions.

Physical demands of this position may include, but not limited to the following:  bending, kneeling and climbing.
