Storm Duty Requirements

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.                        

 

POSITION CONCEPT:
We are seeking a motivated IT PMO Intern to support our IT Project Management Office in system administration, requirements documentation, and process improvement. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate eager to gain hands-on experience in PMO operations within a dynamic and fast-paced technology environment. The IT PMO Intern will work closely with our project managers and system administrators to streamline project workflows and enhance PMO effectiveness.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    PMO System Administration: Assist with Smartsheet and other PMO tool administration, including user access management, setting up project templates, and ensuring data accuracy.
•    Requirements Documentation: Collaborate with project teams to capture business and technical requirements, translating them into clear documentation for project use.
•    Process Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing existing PMO processes, suggesting enhancements, and helping implement approved changes.
•    Dashboard and Reporting Support: Assist in developing dashboards and reports to provide clear visibility into project statuses, budget tracking, and other key PMO metrics.
•    Meeting Support: Attend project meetings, prepare meeting notes, track action items, and follow up with team members on assigned tasks.
•    Quality Assurance: Assist with the Project Documentation auditing processes and support the team in the implementation and tracking of quality control processes across the project lifecycle.

 

Preferred Skills: 
o    Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and any experience with documentation or data management is a plus.
o    Previous internship or coursework in project management or IT-related fields.
o    Familiarity with IT infrastructure, software development life cycle (SDLC), or cloud technologies is a plus.
o    Certification or coursework related to project management (e.g., PMP, CAPM, or Agile) is a bonus.
o    Interest in pursuing PMI-PMP or PMI ACP Certifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:   
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline. 

 

Co-Op Requirements:


•    To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
•    A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. 

•    Degree: Current student or recent graduate in Information Technology, Business, Project Management, or related field.

 

Year in School: Junior or Senior, or Graduate student.

 

Preferred Availability: Part-time or full-time - up to 40 hours
