Storm Duty Requirements

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.

 

Position Summary/Details:
The Operation Technology and Strategy (OT&S) group is responsible for several critical aspects related to grid edge operations, project management, and data standardization. In this role, you will delve into grid edge data, identifying trends and leveraging these insights to enhance our existing business processes. Specifically working in Power BI to develop functional tools for business units as well as working in Snowflake SQL to interact with our database and retrieve the necessary data to support business tools.
 

Accountabilities: As a successful candidate for our POSITION, you would: 
•    Perform actions typically associated with data analytics, including but not limited to gathering, cleaning, organizing, presenting, and interpreting data in Snowflake, Power BI and Microsoft office. 
•    Understand and document data lineage, flows and processes. 
•    Learn unfamiliar tools and concepts for various applications. 

 

Physical Location of Co-op: Midtown (Headquarters), 3600 Midtown Dr. Tampa, FL 33607

Working Conditions: Mostly in a normal office environment 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:   
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline. 

Co-Op Requirements:
•    To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
•    A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. 

 

Degree: Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science or related Technology degree

Preferred/Related Discipline: Any standard Engineering or data related disciplines. 

Year in School: Junior or Senior, or Graduate student.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
•    MS Office
•     Programming experience in SQL, Python, C or similar
•    Microsoft Power Platform

Preferred Availability: Part-time or Full time - up to 40 hours
