Storm Duty Requirements

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.
 
Position Summary/Details:
We are seeking a motivated Computer Science student for a Summer Internship to support our AI-driven customer experience initiatives. This role will focus on enhancing our contact center migration to AWS Connect by leveraging AI, automation, and data-driven insights. The intern will gain hands-on experience in cloud technologies, machine learning applications, and customer service optimization while contributing to innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. 
 

Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities:
  Support AI-Powered Contact Center Enhancements
•    Assist in testing and troubleshooting AI-driven features in AWS Connect, such as chatbots and voice agents.
•    Work with the team to explore ways AI can improve customer interactions.
 Assist in Data Analysis & Reporting
•    Help collect and analyze call center data to identify trends and insights.
•    Support the creation of basic reports and dashboards using AWS tools.
 Participate in System Testing & Quality Assurance
•    Assist in user testing of AWS Connect features and provide feedback on performance.
•    Help document issues and improvements for better system stability.
  Contribute to Process Automation
•    Work on small automation tasks to improve workflows using AWS services.
•    Assist in optimizing call routing and self-service options.
  Research & Innovation Support
•    Explore emerging AI and cloud technologies relevant to the contact center.
•    Present findings on potential improvements to enhance customer experience.
 

Physical Location of Co-op: 3600 Midtown Dr., Tampa FL 33607

Working Conditions: Mostly in a normal office environment

Preferred Availability:  Part – Time (30 – 40 hours)
 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:  
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements:
•    To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
•    A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
Required Degree: Engineering
Year in School: Junio, Senior or Graduate Student. 
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•    Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts (AWS experience is a plus).
•    Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or similar.
•    Interest in AI, automation, and customer experience technologies.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
•    Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate technical ideas effectively.
•    Eagerness to learn and explore new technologies related to AI and contact center solutions
