POSITION CONCEPT
The Sr Accountant - Financial Reporting and Consolidations is responsible for monthly closing and consolidation of TECO Holdings subsidiaries for actual results, budget, and forecast. Supports Corporate Accounting in these regards. Requires proficiency in utilizing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, particularly SAP, BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation), and OneStream. Provides technical support for corporate accounting and financial reporting groups and assumes responsibility for certain ongoing corporate accounting activities. Coordinates the external audit process and preparing 10-K and 10-Q disclosures in compliance with SEC requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing process for multiple affiliates, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Assist with the preparation and review of consolidation monthly entries.
- Oversee the consolidated forecasting and budgeting process, partnering with affiliate teams to ensure timely and accurate submissions which requires advanced proficiency in Excel and utilizes BPC and OneStream for reporting to the parent company.
- Other responsibilities include lease accounting, SOX compliance, and technical accounting research, providing flexible and responsive assistance across financial reporting and compliance functions.
- Coordinate the external audit process across affiliates, serving as a liaison between management and the external audit team to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of audit matters.
- Preparation of comprehensive disclosures for SEC filings, including 10-Q and 10-K reports. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with requirements while also preparing disclosures for the parent company.
- Perform other responsibilities including lease accounting, SOX compliance, and technical accounting research, providing flexible and responsive assistance across financial reporting and compliance functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Accounting.
Licenses/Certifications
- Preferred: CPA
Related Experience
- Required: 4 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position.
- Preferred: 2 years public accounting experience in a big four or national firm.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
- Required:
- Requires thorough understanding of accounting standards promulgated by the FASB, SEC, and other regulatory bodies.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP is required.
- Must be extremely organized, detailed, deadline and execution-oriented, with strong analysis, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Preferred:
- Proficient knowledge of SAP, BPC, & OneStream; proficiency in other financial systems
