POSITION CONCEPT:
This position is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all plumbing fixtures. Inspect, repair, install, modify, and maintain plumbing fixtures in heating, water and drainage systems. The employee shall be capable of acting as a leaderman in working and leading plumbing projects. This position requires the individual to work independently with minimal supervision to accomplish the assigned work. Ensures all completed work complies with Safe Work Practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, maintain, inspect and repair plumbing fixtures such as toilets, wash basins and eye wash stations.
- Install, maintain, inspect and repair plumbing systems associated with heating, water and drainage systems.
- Trouble shoot, repair or replace broken parts on all types of plumbing fixtures and systems.
- Install, cut, thread and bend pipes and associated valves and fittings to maintain plumbing systems.
- Maintain, repair and inspect back flow Preventers and associated equipment.
- Ability to prepare, interpret drawings & plumbing schematics, and specifications to layout plumbing systems and materials required.
- Ability to cost estimate time and materials for plumbing projects.
- Test lines as required by local plumbing code regulations.
- Ability to perform multi-skills in other Facility Service trades of same or lower levels by having a basic knowledge of General Trades, Electrical, and HVAC.
- Overtime is required.
EDUCATION:
Required: Valid High School Diploma or valid GED
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Must have 10 years of related plumbing experience.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Must have completed and received certification through a State accredited Plumbing Vocational/Technical program or received a Union Journeyman Plumbers card. Must have proficient knowledge of the “Plumbing Code”. Must possess a Back Flow Inspection and Testing Certification. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have a valid Florida Drivers License.
