The Mgr Project Management - Electric Delivery Operations is responsible for managing operations for the successful execution of large capital projects ($500k+). Provides strategic and functional management to a project management team comprised of both internal and external resources.   Accountable for results measured by scope, schedule, budget, safety, and operational functionality. 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Lead and direct internal and external resources through all phases of project execution including stages such as estimating, engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up of multiple capital projects.
  2. Lead and direct all activities in Electric Delivery Project Management (EDPM) for evaluating, selecting, and managing external contracted resources. This includes active participation in RFPs, RFIs and other processes that ensures projects have appropriate resources in compliance with company practices to complete work safely and cost-effectively.
  3. Lead efforts to ensure proper coordination of internal and external resources, including activities and communications.
  4. Lead change and improvements in Project Management practices.  Identify areas for improvement and work to develop and document best practices and maintain Project Management policies, standards, procedures, and tools.
  5. Support the management and communication of project scope, schedule, cost, quality, risks, and procurements. Ensure routine status update meetings occur, provide value, and drive performance and execution.
  6. Ensure adherence to adopted Project Management practices and standard processes.
  7. Support the development of annual department budgets, compensation recommendations, hiring/promoting, performance measuring and training/development of team members.

 


QUALIFICATIONS
Education 
Required:     Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or related field.  In lieu of the bachelor’s degree an additional 4 years of experience may be considered.
Preferred:    MBA, Graduate degree in Engineering Management. Advanced training in Project Management principles and applications desirable.
 


Licenses/Certifications 
Preferred:    Professional Engineering License or Project Management Professional (PMP)

 

Experience  
Required:    8 years experience related to the duties and responsibilities of the position with at least five years directly related to engineering, operation, maintenance and construction in electric distribution, transmission, or substation. 
Preferred:   Experience and demonstrated knowledge of general construction and engineering activities, companies, or projects.

 

Supervisory Experience         
Preferred:   4 years supervisory, leadership or project lead experience.    

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA) 
Required:    Thorough knowledge of project management theories and methods. Strong knowledge of work planning, scheduling, and estimating methods as well as knowledge of outage planning, coordination methods, procurement procedures and policies. Must have a solid understanding of  business practices including contracts, budgeting, staffing, and resource planning.  Able to build strong teams.  Must be able to manage stakeholder expectations and direct senior level project managers. Must be an excellent oral and written communicator.  Proven ability to plan, organize or analyze a project from beginning to end; Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and external parties; Ability to write accurate reports using clear and concise language; utility industry knowledge. Must understand engineering processes and delivery design criteria, have knowledge of engineering economics and able to connect business drivers to project decision making.
