The Mgr Procurement and Strategic Sourcing has responsibility to oversee the strategic sourcing processes, manage complex procurement activities, and develop and implement cost-saving strategies. Responsible for building and maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers while leading and mentoring a high-performing team. Uses experience in procurement, supplier relationship management (SRM), and leadership to drive process improvements and contribute to the company's overall success. Lead high-level negotiations and manage contracts with suppliers, securing favorable terms, competitive pricing, and conditions to meet the company’s strategic goals.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Team Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of procurement professionals, ensuring high performance, development, and growth within the department.
- Strategic Sourcing & Procurement: Oversee end-to-end procurement and sourcing strategies for key categories, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, market trends, and best practices.
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), Supplier Performance Monitoring & Contract Negotiation: Build, develop, and sustain strong, long-term relationships with suppliers, ensuring mutually beneficial partnerships. Address supplier performance issues, resolve conflicts, and manage supplier risks effectively. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs), ensure compliance with contractual obligations and proactively address performance issues. Lead high-level negotiations and manage contracts with suppliers, securing favorable terms, competitive pricing, and conditions to meet the company’s strategic goals.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Operations, Finance, Legal) to ensure procurement needs are met efficiently and effectively across the organization.
- Policy & Process Development: Lead the development and execution of procurement policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring compliance with both internal and external requirements.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze procurement data to track performance, identify trends, and make recommendations for continuous improvement and strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Innovation, Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization: Drive innovation within the procurement team, identifying and implementing new sourcing strategies, technologies, and methodologies to enhance procurement efficiency and effectiveness. Implement cost-reduction strategies, optimize supplier relationships, and identify opportunities for value creation while meeting budgetary and financial targets.
- Market & Industry Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging procurement best practices to ensure the company remains competitive and agile in its sourcing strategies.

Direct Supervision:Strategic Sourcing Specialist, Supervisor-1, Buyers, Sr. Buyers
Indirect Supervision:Procurement team members at large, business partners, outside contractors/consultants
RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal:Interfaces with all levels of management in all company and corporate departments.
Key External:Interfaces with contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, external auditors, government agencies, and peers in the industry.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or a related field
Preferred: Master’s Degree
Licenses/Certifications
Preferred: Proficiency in procurement software and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Ariba) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Professional certifications (APICS, NCMA, ISM, etc.).
Experience
Required: 7 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management.
Supervisory Experience
Required: 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required: Expertise in supplier relationship management (SRM), including developing and maintaining strong supplier partnerships and managing supplier performance. Deep knowledge of procurement best practices, sourcing methodologies, and supplier management. Extensive experience leading complex procurement processes, negotiating high-value contracts, and achieving favorable terms. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams effectively. Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions and identify opportunities for process optimization. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and manage multiple priorities with a strategic focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment with routine visits to field sites, company operations centers and warehouses. Occasional visits to vendor manufacturing facilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment for site visits.
- Must be able to independently operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.
- Must be able to walk, stand or sit for extended periods of time.
