POSITION CONCEPT
The Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst will provide short- and long-term forecasting, budgeting, and reporting for Tampa Electric. Requires development and/or maintenance of models and tools to accomplish this responsibility in a timely and accurate manner. Performs recurring analyses that support management decision making. Responds to frequent requests from Tampa Electric Senior Leadership and Emera for ad hoc analysis and reports. Will develop analytical skills, work with the team and Finance leadership, assisting with assignments of increasing complexity.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Short-term forecasting: Prepares the short-term forecast for Tampa Electric Company and TECO Energy, including the annual budget and current year financial forecasts, includes forecasted income statement, balance sheet, and cash flows, in addition to supporting the preparation of current year forecast packages provided to Tampa Electric Company Officers. Collaborate with the Tampa Electric Company Business Planning, Capital Planning, Accounting, and Tax teams and other impacted constituents for the accurate and timely completion of the short-term forecasts.
- Prepare analysis of forecasted financial information and expected financial relationships, including key income statement and balance sheet trends in support of management’s understanding of key assumptions used in the forecasts. Assist in the preparation of presentations outlining the key assumptions for use in management decision making.
- Ad hoc analysis: Prepare ad hoc financial analysis, including but not limited to, budget to actual, year-over-year variances, changes in forecast assumptions, financial and non-financial trends, and peer comparisons.
- Prepares documentation of the analysis performed in a manner consistent with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Project Financial Analysis: Assist in the preparation of financial analysis of projects proposed to the CLT, projects proposed as part of strategic analysis and the completion of the company’s long-term forecast and ad hoc projects such as acquisitions or asset investment/ownership opportunities.
- Long-term forecasting: Assist the long-term forecasting process for Tampa Electric Company and TECO Energy, including assisting in the preparation of the annual 5-year financial forecast. Responsible for assisting in the preparation of forecasted income statement, balance sheet, cash flows, ROE, and customer rates, including all forecast packages provided to Emera. Analyzes key assumptions in the multi-year forecast, including support of variance analysis. Collaborate with the Tampa Electric Company Business Planning, Capital Planning, Accounting, and Tax teams and other impacted constituents for the accurate and timely completion of the long-term forecasts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Financial-related field from a regionally
Related Experience
- Required: No years of related financial experience.
- Preferred: One or more years of financial work experience in a regulated utility environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSAs)
- Required:
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
- Analytical skills;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Self-motivated and detail oriented.

Leads the analysis of key assumptions in the multi-year forecast, including support for variance analysis. Collaborate with the Tampa Electric Company Business Planning, Capital Planning, Accounting, and Tax teams and other impacted constituents for the accurate and timely completion of the long-term forecasts.

Collaborate with the Tampa Electric Company Business Planning, Capital Planning, Accounting, and Tax teams and other impacted constituents for the accurate and timely completion of the short-term forecasts.
- Ad hoc analysis: Assist with the review of ad hoc financial analysis, including but not limited to, budget to actual, year-over-year or quarter-over-quarter variances, and changes in forecast assumptions.
- Leads the preparation of documentation of the analysis performed in a manner consistent with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Project Financial Analysis: Leads the preparation of financial analysis of projects proposed to the CLT, projects proposed as part of strategic analysis and the completion of the company’s long-term forecast and ad hoc projects such as acquisitions or asset investment/ownership opportunities. This includes preparing the analysis of all impacts on accretion/dilution, credit metrics, earnings and cash flow, ROE, regulatory recovery and customer rates.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Financial-related field from a regionally accredited university or college.
Licenses/Certifications

- Required: 4 years financial work experience.
- Preferred: 2 or more years of related financial work experience in a regulated utility environment.
