POSITION CONCEPT:
Emphasis for this position is on advanced level control/ process engineering, including the design, implementation, and optimization of systems used to control, monitor, alarm, trend, and regulate equipment and processes within Energy Supply
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide project lead on assigned projects and provide technical support to the Outage & Project Management team and other Energy Supply personnel as required. Fill in, as requested, for the Lead I&C Engineer in his/her absence. As project lead, monitor ongoing work activities to confirm manufacturer/fabricator compliance to project plans, specifications and monitor/enforces compliance to all regulatory requirements.
-Monitor daily work activities of contractors assigned to him/her, and coordinate work with O&PM Construction, plant outage coordinators, station planners and on-site and off-site contractors.
-Coordinate Tampa Electric comments to consulting engineer and supplier documents, and ensure documents are appropriately issued, maintained and permanently filed.
-Advise and assist O&PM Construction personnel in developing Scope of Works, project schedules, and cost estimates.
-Schedule and facilitate project team meetings/conference calls to maintain project schedules and costs.
-Supports Energy Supply power plants in identifying and solving O&M problems. Augment plant staff when needed to meet day-to-day and outage requirements.
SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Two years of experience supervising cooperative education students and/or contractors
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET accredited college program.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Preferred: Pass the Florida Fundamentals of Engineering exam and Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida
EXPERIENCE:
Eng II:
Required: Minimum of 4 years of engineering work experience. Experience consists of work in heavy industry or utility business with a focus on Project Engineering or Plant Maintenance
Eng III:
Required: Minimum of 8 years of engineering work experience. Experience consists of work in heavy industry or utility business with a focus on Project Engineering or Plant Maintenance
Preferred: 8 years of experience working in utility generating facilities or engineering companies performing work for utility generating facilities.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Demonstrated sound knowledge in controls/process engineering work related area. Must be capable of executing complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures; may be call on to conduct, coordinate and supervise complex engineering studies and reports such as those required by specialized governmental agencies; must be able to coordinate activities of outside consultants on complex projects.
Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of Company policies and work procedures. Strong working proficiency with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel & Power Point, and OSI Pi historian. Demonstrated high level of project engineering skill in controls/process engineering.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Travel – Up to 10%, overnight and extended assignments possible. Travel from home office to Big Bend, Bayside and Polk Power Stations is expected and could be frequent. Travel can be nationally and limited internationally.
Working in an industrial environment (including heights and confined space)
Working some overtime (nights, weekends and holidays)
Working outdoors in hot, humid, wet and/or cold conditions 25% to 50% of the work day.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS
This position requires climbing stairs and scaffolding, utilizing safety harnesses, respiratory protection and other PPE required by the work environment.
Ability to stand and walk for extended period of time
Working in noise, dust and high humidity areas while utilizing Personnel Protection Equipment. Flexibility to crawl in and out of tight confined areas.
