POSITION CONCEPT:
The Materials Specialist, under minimal supervision, is responsible for inspecting, receiving, storing, issuing, transporting, and maintaining warehouse inventory. Duties include all physical and technological associated materials management activities, related logistics coordination, and relationship management, ensuring the integrity of the assigned storeroom(s).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspects, receives, stores, issues, transports and maintains warehouse inventory. To include daily associated forklift, flatbed, and/or semi operations.
Unloading inbound deliveries, performing Inventory/SAP receipt transactions, and stocking materials in the appropriate bin.
Picking materials for ad hoc requests, bulk requests, and kitting orders; staging for pick-up or loading and securing for route delivery.
Performing all physical material management activities. To include structure maintenance, bin management, labeling, cycle counting, housekeeping, etc.
Performing all material/tool related transactions in Inventory, SAP, WorkMan, WorkPro, Toolhound, etc.
Processing material returns and related reconciliation activities.
Performing a variety of material related research in Inventory, SAP, WorkMan, WorkPro, Toolhound, etc. and exercising use and understanding of the approved materials catalog and chemical management eBinder.
Answering inquiries regarding materials, material management policies/procedures, and resolving discrepancies regarding materials, material transactions, or deliveries.
Performing safety and quality inspections, environmental inspections, hazardous material inspections, and universal waste inspections. To include all associated reporting and tracking activities.
Performing wire respooling activities and managing reel tracking program(s).
Participation with and adherence to all company, organization, and departmental compliance programs.
Additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required: Must pass the BSTB written test which includes reading comprehension, math, and mechanical aptitude assessment. Must possess and maintain a State of Florida CDL Class A Driver’s License.
Successfully complete the written portion of the CDL Class “A” driver license (includes combination vehicle test) prior to the posting date noted above. Bidders must obtain the full (driver portion) CDL Class “A” driver license, within six (6) months of actual start date in order to remain in the position
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 1 year of experience performing the duties and responsibilities of this position or 2 years of related experience. Related experience consists of storekeeping/warehousing tasks, functions, and responsibilities.
Preferred: Previous work experience in the Warehouse industry. Knowledge of electrical industry materials and/or equipment. Knowledge of computer-based inventory management system and/or materials management experience in SAP.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Must be proficient in Windows environments. Must have the ability to operate a forklift. Must be able to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide, decimals, fractions, basic algebra and geometry). Must have the ability to follow complex oral and written instructions and clearly express ideas verbally and in writing.
Preferred: Materials Management in SAP, Records Management and Quality Assurance. Shipping
and Receiving experience
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to work outdoors and in a warehouse environment for an extended period of time. Occasional overtime may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS:
Must be comfortable with daily forklift use.
Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, stairs and the like using feet, legs, hands and arms.
Must be able to maintain balance when walking, standing, or crouching, on/in narrow or slippery surfaces and/or spaces.
Must be able to independently operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.
Must have vision correctable to 20/40.
Must be able to express and exchange ideas verbally.
Must be able to bend and/or stoop requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
Must be able to kneel and or crouch by bending legs at knees to come to rest at knees and bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
Must be able to walk, stand or sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to grasp/handle small hand tools and other objects by applying pressure with fingers and palms.
Must be able to pull, push, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Must not have an average hearing loss greater than 40 decibels in the better ear at frequencies of 500, 1000 and 2000 with or without a hearing aid.
Must be able to rotate and revolve body (twist) as to face in another direction.
Must be physically capable of indoor/outdoor manual labor
