Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

Build the Financial Foundation Behind Reliable Energy

At Tampa Electric, our Business Planning team plays a critical role in helping operational leaders make informed financial decisions that support safe, reliable, and cost-effective energy delivery to our customers.

We're seeking a Business Planning Analyst I, Business Planning Analyst II, or Senior Business Planning Analyst to support Big Bend Power Station within our Electric Supply organization. The successful candidate will partner closely with operational leaders to develop budgets and forecasts, analyze financial performance, identify cost drivers, and provide insights that support both short- and long-term business objectives.

The level of hire will be determined based on the selected candidate's education, experience, and demonstrated capabilities.

What You'll Do

  • Support the development, tracking, and reporting of capital, operations and maintenance (O&M), and other business plans and forecasts.
  • Partner with plant leadership and business unit teams to understand operational activities and translate them into financial plans.
  • Analyze actual, budgeted, and forecasted financial performance and provide meaningful variance explanations.
  • Assist in monthly financial close activities, including accruals, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, reporting tools, and analytical solutions to improve forecasting accuracy and business insights.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to support operational and management decision-making.
  • Identify cost trends, risks, and opportunities while recommending actions to improve financial performance.
  • Support regulatory and compliance requirements through accurate financial reporting and documentation.
  • Participate in storm response and recovery efforts, including financial tracking, cost estimation, and support activities related to storm restoration and recovery.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the utility industry or other asset-intensive industries such as energy, manufacturing, industrial operations, engineering, or construction.
  • Experience with SAP and/or PowerPlan.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, variance analysis, or cost management processes.
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.

Business Planning Analyst I

Ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals looking to build expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and operational finance.

Business Planning Analyst II

Typically suited for professionals with demonstrated financial analysis experience who can independently manage assignments, develop forecasts, and provide recommendations to business partners.

Senior Business Planning Analyst

Typically suited for experienced professionals who can lead complex analyses, serve as a trusted advisor to operational leadership, drive process improvements, and influence strategic financial decision-making.
