Tampa Electric is a subsidiary of Emera Inc., a family of energy companies which also includes TECO Peoples Gas and New Mexico Gas Company. The ADI Business Technical Consultant will drive the enhancement of our Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) by planning and implementing upgrades that align with our future organizational goals. This role will collaborate closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership to evolve the ADMS to meet emerging needs and technologies, ensuring seamless integration and optimal utilization of the system. 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Responsible for leading the planning and execution of ADMS upgrades. This involves ensuring that upgrades align with organizational goals and future needs while coordinating with internal and external teams to gather and define system requirements. (30%)
  2. Provide ADMS insight as part of the ADI Program Team’s integrated project plan, ensuring that timelines, resources, and deliverables are coordinated with other initiatives, and that the ADMS integrates seamlessly with other systems within Electric Delivery. (20%)
  3. Work closely with IT teams to ensure that the ADMS is aligned with the organization’s existing and future IT architecture, collaborating to ensure scalability, integration, and interoperability with other systems. (20%)
  4. Own the ADMS vendor relationship by providing technical and strategic input to ensure deliverables meet the organization’s requirements. Facilitate communication between vendors, internal teams, and external partners to ensure smooth project execution. (20%)
  5. Develop and implement training efforts to ensure staff are equipped to use the upgraded ADMS and will lead change management strategies to support the adoption of new functionalities. (10%)

Direct: None

 

RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Regular collaboration with other teams involved in the ADI program, such as the Distribution Control Center, IT departments, and the teams responsible for Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
External: Interacts with external vendors and the system integrator for ADMS
    
QUALIFICATIONS
 

Education
Required: 
Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration or a related field. In lieu of a degree, a certified Journeymen in Line, Trouble, Substation, and a minimum of 5 years of System Service Leadership experience will be considered.
Preferred: Advanced Degree in Business Administration or a related field

 

Experience
Required:
 7 years of experience in utility operations, IT systems implementation, or related fields

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Candidates with experience in leading ADMS platforms such as GE Grid Solutions, Schneider Electric, or Siemens will be favored. Experience with strategic planning and the implementation of large-scale technology projects, and knowledge of trends in utility operations including smart grids and renewable integration. Additional skills and abilities are listed below:

  • Strong Problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution circuit maps and hierarchy of electrical distribution circuits
  • Strong technical understanding of all systems within the Distribution Control Center including a deep understanding of the supporting interfaces.
  • Ability to work across the business at all levels to educate, advise and recommend solutions to advance the strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively explain complex systems to non-experts.

WORKING CONDITIONS 
This position is primarily office-based, with flexibility for remote work. Occasional travel to company sites, vendor locations, and meetings may be required.
