Plant City Service Area

POSITION CONCEPT 
Responsible for inspecting all OH/UG residential & commercial services, temporary construction services, any field related activity such as opening and inspecting energized equipment, and any field verification support for the distribution and design and engineering team. Verify Distribution Design Tech designs of all service work requests to ensure the construction print, and methods of installation are accurate. Responsible for all elements of a pre-job inspection, including but not limited requirements related to design project work requests.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure all inspections assigned meets TEC’s spec by referring to the SESR (Standard Electrical Service Requirements) & General Rules & Specifications reference manual. May be required to participate in POW (Plan of the Week) meetings with Tampa Electric team members, to provide input and feedback for service-related topics. Complete jobsite post-inspection documentation to ensure the proper scheduling for work to be performed. Resolve any field-related issues with Distribution Design Techs, and customers to prevent delays that may affect in service dates. 
Complete jobsite inspections to ensure that residential/commercial customers are ready for OH/UG services to be installed.  Verify that locations of TEC’s existing and proposed equipment and any third parties’ infrastructures (water, sewer, storm, gas, telephone, and cable lines) are adequately identified on the construction prints. Based on the scope of construction and company safety standards, verify Maintenance-of-Traffic (MOT) was necessary as a requirement that Operations, and/or contractors would need for completing work.
Complete assigned WorkPro requirements as field tasks are completed so that jobs can properly progress through the system. If applicable, disapprove requirements and enter supporting remarks in WorkPro.
Assist ADMS department with field verification of TEC assets. Work in ADMS’s WMS to report and coordinate with mapping services on asset locations.
Periodically backup other Field Inspector team members.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Education 
Required:    Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
Preferred:    Associates Degree; may be accepted in lieu of 1 year of experience 

 

Licenses/Certifications 
Required:    Valid Florida driver’s license and safe driving record

 

Experience  
Required:    One year of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required. Related experience includes but is not limited to the following activities: work order management, project management, customer service, planning, field construction, CAD drafting and GIS mapping; direct work experience designing, installing, and maintaining distribution overhead and underground facilities as a lineworker or electrician.
Preferred:    Experience with Distribution Design, Lineworker/Apprentice Lineworker, Electrician or work-related experience.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA) 
Required:    Must have good communication and organization skills to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment; Must be able to handle urgent construction and customer issues in the field under minimal supervision
Preferred:    WorkPro and GIS; Ability to read and understand construction prints and interpret GIS data.

WORKING CONDITIONS 
Daily working conditions include office and field construction environments. The daily use of a company vehicle is provided for construction site inspections. The use of personal protective equipment to include Fire Resistant (FR) clothing is required around energized conductors and equipment.  Occasional overtime required. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS 
•    Driving to locations in TEC service areas
•    Walking to field locations for inspection purposes.
•    Lifting 20lbs regularly and occasional lifting of up to 40lbs.
