Title: Technical Trainer - Mechanical Maintenance

POSITION CONCEPT:
The Technical Trainer develops, schedules, and facilitates skills-based mechanical maintenance and safety training programs. Serves as a mentor for technical skills development and facilitates ongoing development feedback with performance coaches. Updates training programs to ensure that training materials reflect current work methods. Provides project leadership to design, validate and maintain initial and continuing mechanical maintenance training programs and materials, and manage the delivery of mechanical maintenance and safety training courses. Act as lead developer for instructor led and computer-based maintenance training courses.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, schedule, and facilitate Energy Supply skills-based and safety training courses in both classroom and field settings, adjusting lesson plans accordingly and as needed.
- Perform Job Task Analysis to determine knowledge and skill requirements of initial and continuing training program, design assessment mechanisms for initial training program participant placement, and write procedures and guidance documents to govern and administer training programs.
- Coach performance, mentor and develop technical skills and appropriate behaviors; communicate department policies and work rules; monitor trainees to ensure compliance with Safe Work Practices and HEC procedures; and provide trainee performance feedback to performance coaches for ongoing trainee development.
- Ensure that proper tools, equipment, and techniques are used to perform all work in an efficient and safe manner. Ensure that all tools and equipment are appropriately inspected and properly maintained to promote safety and efficiency always.
- Work closely with the Manager, Human Performance to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training and modify programs as required.
- Research and evaluate new industry products and programs as appropriate.
- Participate on company committees as appropriate.
EDUCATION:
Required: Valid High School Diploma or valid GED
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a technical area from an accredited college or university is preferred and may be considered in lieu of up to 6 years of related experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of 6 years of related experience as a journey worker in industrial maintenance. Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of training in a classroom and field setting
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Presentation and communication skills are essential to effectively deliver classroom and field instruction, assist with maintenance of standard operating procedures and training programs and internal and external communications; Advanced knowledge and technical proficiency in all aspects of plant maintenance. with proven credibility through confidence and competence in subject matter. Strong understanding of materials, tools and equipment pertaining to Energy Supply. Must demonstrate an aptitude to grasp technical concepts, formalize ideas and effectively communicate them, budget time effectively and utilize resources efficiently. Must be able to lead and manage projects and programs from idea to implementation. Must have excellent people skills required to build positive customer relationships and the ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group. Proficient computer skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software. Extensive knowledge of Safe Work Practices and HEC Program procedures.
