POSITION CONCEPT: 
The Planner Scheduler is responsible in a line capacity to the Manager Maintenance. The Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling all I&C/ electrical maintenance activities on a day-to-day basis, as well as planning all equipment and unit outage work. Provides maintenance and planning support through craft scheduling, outage planning and scheduling, KPI tracking, along with Plan of the Week schedule development and compliance monitoring.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Within the limits of authorized company objectives, policies, procedures, plans and budgets, the Planner has responsibilities and duties including, but not limited to the following:

  • Plan maintenance work and work orders for each team to ensure that work is properly prioritized and coordinated, and all work is accomplished in a cost-effective manner. Ensure work orders are thoroughly planned, assigned the correct equipment location, properly estimated for labor, parts and materials, and all supporting attachments (procedures, permits, etc.) are included.
  • Plan and coordinate work requirement needs including all HEC procedures, confined space and burn permits, job aides, maintenance procedures, and PM attachments, in order to maximize productivity and minimize impact on plant personnel and equipment. Maintain our Preventative Maintenance program for accurateness, effectiveness, and schedule compliance.
  • Plan and develop scheduled ‘outage work packages’ for all equipment and unit outages. Work closely with the plant Technical Support staff and plant operations personnel to prioritize required work. Perform jobsite visits for planning and scheduling auditing purposes. Utilize cost control methods and work within the parameters of station budgetary allotments to accomplish required work.
  • Assist plant supervisory personnel with quantifying maintenance requirements. Coordinate work plans into packages for both, next day activities, as well as weekly plans for maintenance activities. Maintain all team member schedules (daily and weekly work, vacation, required safety and skill-based training, etc.). Communicate any changes to the daily or weekly plan.
  • Ensure safe work practices and environmental policies, procedures, and permit limitations are followed in conjunction with planning and scheduling work.  Implement and utilize company and station resources, including annual refresher training, record keeping, and daily job safety briefs 
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor maintenance KPI’s to include schedule compliance, backlogs, planning accuracy, PM goals, reactive maintenance, and cost compliance. 
  • Effectively monitor and reduce overtime usage and proactively explore ways to increase productivity. Upon job completion, insure work orders are properly routed or filed, and any follow-up (parts repair/replacement, procedure updates/changes, etc.) is accomplished.
  • Evaluate work request and as required, assign all contractor related work orders to the Contract Supervisor for estimating. Review all estimated contractor work orders and either forward on for additional review and approval, or approve within your appropriate approval authority.
  • Participate with the plant Technical Support group in making recommendations to station management on equipment modifications or maintenance, budget input and future outage planning.
  • Perform any other duties or special assignments as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Such as, team supervision, project lead, committee team member.


EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university

 

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of 8 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required.   Related experience consists of:  Power Plant operations and/or maintenance
Preferred: Minimum of 15 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required.   Related experience consists of:  power plant operations and/or maintenance
College degree may be considered in lieu of comparable related experience in power plant operations or maintenance of five years with a Bachelor’s degree.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Proficient with Microsoft Office.  Working knowledge of work management systems related to planning, scheduling, and tracking maintenance work and equipment in a heavy industrial facility. Demonstrate an understanding of maintenance and outage management best practices and procedures with the ability to develop and maintain KPI metrics. 
Ability to develop spreadsheets, power point presentations, and other related programs and documents.
Strong communication skills with the ability to gather information from numerous sources, compile and correlate information, and communicate using written, verbal, and various reporting methods.    
Preferred: Proficient using scheduling software i.e. Primavera, Microsoft Project.

 

WORK CONDITIONS:
Work hours may exceed 40 hour per week where work is executed indoors, outdoors and around hot and audible equipment. Overtime work may be required during the week and weekends.
