Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.

Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

POSITION CONCEPT

The Superintendent, Generation is responsible in line capacity to the Solar and Energy storage Maintenance Manager for the leadership of all assigned operating personnel.  The incumbent is responsible for the safe implementation of the Solar & Energy Storage Operations HEC procedures,  emergency response plans, and maintenance of Solar and Energy Storage equipment.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Member Management

  • Supervise, coach, counsel and provide daily direction to assigned team. Resolve various  team member situations and performance issues. Conduct regular performance reviews with team members. Utilize company tools and resources to develop team member performance and skills.
  • Coach and train all assigned team members in matters of personnel administration to include effective PR/IDP reviews, setting work priorities, and any other tasks that are part of their responsibilities. Ensure that all assigned personnel are adequately trained in Emergency Response Procedures.
  • Provide leadership in implementing company and goals. Perform any other duties or special assignments as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safe work practices and environmental policies, procedures, and permit limitations are followed. Implement and utilize company resources, including annual refresher training, record keeping, and daily reporting.
  • Ensure that each Solar Site operates within all FERC, NERC and FRCC regulatory guidelines and policies.

Technical Support

  • Participate in Technical Support groups in making recommendations to management on equipment modifications/maintenance, budget input, and staffing requirements.
  • Ensure adequate support on operating problems and ensure that corrective projects are initiated. Develop, foster, and support a strong team environment among operations and engineering/technical team.

 

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelors degree or Electrical / Instrumentation journeyman level certification.

Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 8 years of direct work experience in Engineering, Operations or Maintenance in a heavy industrial or manufacturing work environment.

Preferred: 5 years of direct work experience in an electrical generating facility or Solar & Energy Storage work environment.

 

Supervisory Experience:

Required: 2 years team leadership, providing direction and guidance to others.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Required: Must have expertise in the specific operating systems in Solar & Energy Storage equipment and how they relate to the performance and the reliability of the fleet.  Must use good judgement and have a thorough knowledge of all the different systems in the solar or energy storage plant to make decisions on isolating equipment for repairs and how it effects the fleet’s ability to stay reliable and available.  Must be able to communicate well with all departments including contractors. Must demonstrate in the job the respect and confidence of the Solar & Energy Storage staff.    

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Job hours consist of primarily 40hrs per week, dayshift Monday thru Friday with some overtime involved. Working conditions consist of office and Solar & battery plants.

The successful applicant will be required to take and pass a Baseline Medical Examination as part of the pre-employment screening once an offer has been accepted. A pre-employment drug screening, as well as a background check (including education, employment, criminal and motor vehicle) will also be conducted as part of the pre-employment screening.
