POSITION CONCEPT
The Mgr Comm & Load Mgmt Programs is responsible for managing the development, implementation, and operations of Commercial programs and all Residential Load Management and Demand Side Management (DSM) programs. Interacts frequently and develops partnerships with internal departments to conceive, organize, and implement new and innovative programs and services. Ensures existing products and services are effectively managed and marketed. Responsible for providing leadership and advising the organization, creating an environment that promotes internal and external collaboration necessary to meet corporate objectives, departmental goals, and achieve Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) approved DSM Plans. Provides team members with the resources, training, coaching and leadership.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer-Centric Innovation
Manages execution of tactical initiatives for the Commercial programs and Residential load management programs to establish new and innovative customer partnerships, grow customer participation and increase customer satisfaction. Uses AI and AI-enabled systems to improve program efficiencies and the customer experience. Utilizes design-thinking innovation and methodologies for creating new customer offerings and adjusting current programs. Leads customer research initiatives to inform future product development and service enhancements, ensuring alignment with customer needs and evolving trends in the market.
Leadership
Leads a customer-focused, knowledgeable and empowered team capable of meeting the competitive challenges within their respective responsibilities. Fosters a collaborative, inclusive and diverse work environment. Responsible for management, direction, training, and development for the Commercial programs and Residential load management program teams.
Data Driven Decision Making
Utilizes data analytics and customer feedback to assess program effectiveness, identifies improvement areas, and adjust program offerings as necessary to drive higher engagement and operational efficiency. Coordinates the development and preparation of all quality standards for the Commercial programs and Residential load management programs. Oversees administrative aspects of these programs including customer enrollments, budget, and timely and accurate accounting. Tracks, documents and reports on key performance indicators including but not limited to customer participation levels and demand reductions for all load management programs. Coordinates the development of marketing campaigns to achieve customer participation to meet program goals and objectives.
Technology Integration and Scalability
Responsible for technology software and hardware supporting Commercial programs and Residential Load Management Programs. Leads integration of Commercial and Load Management Programs with grid modernization initiatives, smart grid technologies, and enterprise-wide systems. Responsible for the Itron Intellisource system, including coordinating all activity related to maintenance, upgrades, testing and training to ensure proper administration of the company’s systems. Responsible for Itron vendor relationship. Initiates, manages and leads process reviews, special projects and teams to meet goals and objectives.
Regulatory and Policy Engagement
Engages in policy development, particularly in the fast moving and evolving load management and DSM sectors. Advocate for regulatory changes that benefit our customers and align with the company’s long-term strategy. Ensures that expenses are prudent and recoverable and responds to Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) interrogatories and miscellaneous requests while maintaining compliance with applicable Florida Administrative Code.
Customer Education, Outreach and Partnerships
Develops partnerships and outreach programs that are aimed at increasing awareness and understanding Commercial and Residential Load Management programs, and the value they will bring to both participants and non-participants. Focuses on external and internal customers by building business relationships with suppliers, business partners, internal departments, and all other appropriate key stakeholders to foster long-term partnerships and to ensure successful execution of customer program strategies. Responsible for the contract negotiations and contract management with vendors supplying materials, services, and labor for Commercial and Residential Load Management programs. Supports and participates in trade shows, safety events, and conducts presentations to increase awareness of company programs, products and services. Evaluates, recommends and coordinates company sponsored events, hosting webinars, lunch-n-learn and other types of training events. Participate in local associations, boards and expos, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or other business-related field.
- Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Required:
- Valid driver’s license is required to travel both within and outside of the territory on company-related business.
Experience
- Required:
- 6 years related experience in the utility, engineering, or business-related field.
- Preferred:
- Experience in strategic planning, analytics, innovation, and transformation.
Supervisory Experience
- Required:
- 3 years direct supervisory experience and/or experience leading teams.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
- Required:
- Demonstrated knowledge of tariff agreements and regulatory requirements for the accurate delivery of customer programs.
- Technical understanding of hardware and software functionality to implement and maintain load management.
- Knowledge of SAP, Intellisource, and other software or technologies supporting load management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Project, and Copilot generative AI.
- Preferred:
- Proficiency in business analytics and data management.
- Experience working with local, County, City and State governments.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily in an office environment but does require field inspections to include working outdoors and in customer homes and businesses. Some extended after hours, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
Sitting at a computer/keyboard for long periods of time while in the office environment (85%); driving, walking, bending, stooping, and standing for long periods of time when in the field at customer sites. Must be able to work outdoors during sun, rain, and sometimes inclement weather
