HOW YOU’LL HELP DRIVE THE FUTURE OF NATURAL GAS? 

The Senior Systems Analyst will specialize in operational technologies (OT), responsible for systems administration, support, and implementation for PGS’s operational environments. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. They will possess a strong understanding of operational technologies, including control systems (SCADA), and meter operational systems, and will be able to leverage this knowledge to develop and implement effective solutions.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED? 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline from an accredited school/institution.
  • 6 years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development.
  • Extensive experience with support and integration of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Strong knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies. Stays current with IT industry trends and emerging technologies; suggests application of new technologies when appropriate.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Frequently presents information to their team and department.
  • Proficient with programming languages and use of developer tools such as (PL/SQL Developer, SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft Visual Studio).
  • Strong work experience with project plans and able to clearly articulate their role, project goals, and timelines. Develops project plans for small projects; partners with Project Managers to develop project plans for large projects.
  • Creates and reviews technical design specifications and possesses knowledge of development tools and technologies in support of the Information Technology Architecture.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Systems Analyst develops complex software and integrates applications with complex interfaces based on specifications provided.  Creates and reviews technical design specifications. Works under limited supervision and mentors junior staff.

  • Develops complex software based on specifications provided.  Collaborates with Business Systems Analysts and/or Business Partners to develop software specifications.
  • Implements software packages for which in-depth configuration and integration is required; drives substantial interaction with vendor resources.
  • Integrates applications with complex interfaces based on specifications provided.
  • Provides 24x7 primary and/or secondary support for one or more applications classified as niche, core, or mission-critical. 
  • Supports the request and analysis phases of SDLC by producing required documentation and estimates; reviews deliverables produced by junior staff.
  • Executes the design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC by producing the prescribed deliverables; reviews deliverables produced by junior staff.
  • Participates on an Application Development and Support team as well as project teams under the direction of their manager or project managers.  May function as Technical Lead on any project.
  • Acquires and maintains knowledge of business areas relevant to projects and application support assignments.
  • Acquires and maintains appropriate technical skills and mentors junior staff.  Participates in developing and driving standard practices within their team.

 

POSITION PROFICIENCIES:

  • Technical: A strong understanding of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) software and tools. This includes proficiency in HMI, PLC, and control systems. 
  • Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze and interpret operational data. They should be proficient with documenting high-level solutions and systems architecture, process and data flow analysis, and business and technology gap analysis.
  • Problem-solving Skills: The ability to troubleshoot technical issues, identify the root cause of problems, and develop and implement solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills are important for an OT Systems Analyst, as they may be responsible for managing IT/OT projects. This includes the ability to plan, organize, and oversee project tasks.
  • Continuous Learning: Explores OT technologies by staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field. This includes learning new software and tools, as well as keeping abreast of industry trends and best practices.

 

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE? 

  • One or more professional certifications in specific job-related disciplines.
  • 8 years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development.
  • Experience with SCADA Systems support and management.
  • Strong working experience with support and implementation of meter data management solutions.
  • Strong working experience with support and integration of meter reading and SAP billing systems.
  • Experience with support and implementation of mobile field solutions.
  • Strong working experience with SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Strong working experience with electric and/or gas utility operations and controls.
  • Strong working experience with relational database management systems.
  • Experience with development and design of integration processes between dissimilar systems.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as MS SSRS, Crystal Reports, and/or Power BI.

 

WHO WILL BE A PART OF YOUR TEAM? 

  • No direct supervision.  Frequently assigned a leadership role that could include overseeing contract resources and/or junior staff.
  • Interacts with all levels of team members throughout the TECO/PGS Energy companies.  Frequently interacts with other IT support groups.
  • Frequently interacts with outside consulting firm personnel and software and hardware vendors.

Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our TECO Energy customers.
