Are you analytical, detail-oriented, and interested in how utility rates, regulatory policy, and business strategy impact millions of customers?

 

Peoples Gas is seeking a Regulatory Rate Analyst to join our Regulatory Affairs team. In this role, you'll perform financial, regulatory, and analytical work that supports key regulatory filings, rate proceedings, cost recovery mechanisms, and strategic business decisions. You'll collaborate with leaders across the organization and work directly with regulatory agencies, legal counsel, and industry stakeholders to help ensure compliance while supporting affordable, reliable natural gas service for our customers.

What You'll Do

As a Regulatory Rate Analyst, you will support regulatory filings, research, financial analysis, and strategic initiatives that help guide the company's regulatory and business decisions. 

Key Responsibilities

Analyze Data and Support Regulatory Filings

  • Perform data analysis and research for regulatory filings, presentations, and reports.
  • Analyze financial, operational, and regulatory information used to support filings and business recommendations.
  • Create reports, summaries, and analyses for leadership decision-making. 

Support Rate Cases and Cost Recovery Filings

  • Assist with preparation of Rate increase petitions, Cost recovery filings, True-up filings, Rider and clause filings, and other regulatory submissions
  • Develop supporting schedules, data analysis, and documentation.

Prepare Regulatory Responses and Testimony

  • Assist in developing responses to: Data requests, Interrogatories,Audit requests, Discovery requests
  • Support preparation of testimony and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel and business experts during regulatory proceedings. 

Conduct Regulatory Research and Analysis

  • Research Florida and national regulatory trends, policies, tariffs, and industry developments.
  • Evaluate regulatory impacts and opportunities.
  • Analyze utility rate structures and benchmark utility practices.
  • Provide recommendations and strategic insights to management. 

Lead Special Projects

  • Conduct analytical studies and special projects related to regulatory, financial, operational, and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify emerging issues and opportunities that may impact the company or customers.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited instituition in one of the following disciplines: Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or Business

Experience

Regulatory Rate Analyst

  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience related to the duties and responsibilities is required. Related experience consists of regulatory affairs, accounting, finance, economics, legal support or engineering.

Senior Regulatory Analyst

  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience related to the duties and responsibilities is required. Related experience consists of regulatory affairs, accounting, finance, economics, legal support or engineering

Preferred (Senior Level Consideration)

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience performing the duties and responsibilities of the Regulatory Analyst or another position of comparable level in the regulatory field. 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

  • Demonstrates the ability to work under general supervision and complete somewhat varied duties requiring some judgment or simple analysis to determine course of action.  Strong math aptitude.  Intermediate understanding and use of personal computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

Senior-Level Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrates the ability to work under limited supervision, work independently and complete complex duties requiring independent judgment, analysis and interpretation of policy.  A solid working understanding and application of the regulatory framework, Commission Rules and Regulations, company tariffs and rate design concepts is required.  Strong math aptitude.  Intermediate understanding and use of personal computer applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with emphasis on spreadsheet analysis is required.
