WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Gas Control Analyst function has responsibility for monitoring, controlling, and coordinating the flow of natural gas throughout the distribution and/or pipeline system in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring the accurate volume and pressure of gas required for consumer demands while working closely with the PGS Operating Divisions by handling requests and being their single point of contact for system information. level works independently, handling routine and non-routine issues of a diverse nature.  Provides guidance to less experienced team member(s).  

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Monitors the control and reporting systems by managing alarms, reacting to abnormal operating conditions, dispatching field technicians.
• Compiles records for studies pertaining to system operations.
• Provides support to field and other company personnel by resolving gas control issues and providing control services during operations maintenance and testing functions.
• Monitors pipeline inputs and tracks daily and monthly volumes for the various suppliers.
• Manage the Gas Control Hotline 24/7 by answering calls and acting upon requests.
• Provides operational, technological, and analytical support to the Gas Operations Team, including preparing reports and statistical studies for their use in the allocation of gas supplies.
• Provides assistance and guidance to less experienced team member(s) on more complex problems and situations.  Assists the Supervisor with training of new team members.
• Assists Supervisor with identifying process improvements and with planning and implementation of enhancements to the Gas Control system.
• Analyzes wide-range of Gas Control related data to determine most efficient movement of volumes while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. Compiles and reports historical data to identify trends and review forecasts.

What We’re Looking For

Must Haves:

• Must have a High School diploma/equivalent.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in natural gas control, delivery, supply, and/or energy industry; including 2-3 years of gas control experience.
• Must consistently perform at/above expectations in all Level I responsibilities.
• Must have a good working knowledge and comprehension of SCADA components and control equipment, and the ability to read and understand schematics.
• Must demonstrate developed skills in analysis and problem solving, successfully applying skills to situations of higher complexity in a logically and in a timely manner.
• Must be able to perform role with little or no supervision.
• Must be proficient in MS Excel.

Nice-to-Haves:

• A two-year technical degree is strongly preferred and may substitute for 1-2 years of related experience.

• Will be required to work varied shifts depending on seasonal, operational, or scheduling needs. This department is staffed 24/7.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to sit or stand for 12-hour shifts.
