The Director Project and Business Innovation directs and oversees the planning, execution and successful delivery of large-scale projects, ensuring seamless adoption of organizational business improvements. Responsible for the execution of business innovation strategies and project portfolio and change initiatives ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Develop relationships with all functional areas to understand the complexities of the business and maximize project efficiency. Require strong leadership skills to direct a team to execute projects and change initiatives through collaborative teamwork.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in the field of Business, Engineering, Economics, or another technical-related field.
  • 10 years related experience in business innovation or change management. Experience must include 6 years performing similar duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • Proven track record in managing large, complex projects and driving organizational change in a highly regulated environment.
  • 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Must have a strategic mindset, leadership, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in project management skills, including proficiency with project management tools.
  • Deep understanding and application experience of change management tools and techniques.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, draw insights and make strategic recommendations/decisions.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to manage budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Excellent analytical, oral, written, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Confident in conflict and change management with high level of problem-solving and analytical skills, analytical techniques with modeling, mapping, diagramming, analyzing, charting, benchmarking, familiar with team collaboration tools and project management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook) and SharePoint.
     

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the execution of PGS’ business innovation strategy and portfolio of annual projects that drive for improvements across the business. Oversees the team that conducts the projects, assisting, when necessary, to lead to successful project completion and execution. Provide regular status updates to senior management, department clients and other affiliates as necessary. Implement proven project management methodologies and tools (agile, waterfall etc.) to maximize efficiency and minimize risk. Develop and deploy a center of excellence for project management and business innovation principles and techniques across the business (Prosci, ADKAR etc.). 
  • Direct the development and oversee the implementation of change leadership strategies to ensure smooth transitions as the organization evolves. Develop and drive for a culture of change adoption, ensuring stakeholder engagement and buy-in across all levels within the organization. Collaborate on a multi-function approach to design and implement successful change initiatives in collaboration and consultation with Human Resources, Communications teams and Executive Leadership.
  • Develop relationships with all functional areas to understand the complexities of the business and maximize project efficiency. Monitor, manage and communicate project progress, including project time and financial budgets, identify potential roadblocks and take corrective action when needed to ensure success of annual project plans. 
  • Lead, coach, and develop project management and change management programs for the business. Identify, in conjunction with the HR leadership development team, key training initiatives needed across the organization that will drive for improved project and change management. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability across the organization. Represents PGS to internal and external stakeholders on a variety of strategic projects within the Emera businesses. 

 


WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE? 

  • MBA or other related Master’s degree.
  • Project Management certification or like certification.
  • Energy industry related experience in business innovation and/or change management.
  • Knowledge of regulated utility operations, regulatory requirements and industry trends.

Works closely with all departments/functions. Provides presentations and reports to executive management as needed. Works closely with external stakeholders, possibly industry officials, government officials.

Requires working extended hours and weekends; medium to high stress work environment; and frequent overnight travel is required. May be engaged in assignments that will require travel on short notice to different business locations.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE REQUIREMENTS
TECO Energy and its companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our TECO Energy customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
