HOW WILL YOU HELP DRIVE THE FUTURE OF NATURAL GAS?
Supports the Damage Prevention pipeline damage claim auditing and recovery program. This position communicates directly with Service Area staff to train and educate as needed with regards to damage documentation to ensure accurate information is captured and processed for damaged facilities. In addition, this position audits the damage reports, administers the damage facility billing and supporting documentation for development and processing of the invoice to the claim’s recovery company, and prepares payments received for processing.
The position will also be a liaison between local operations and the claims recovery company, to resolve inquiries or claim disputes and analyze and distribute data contained in the damage claims billing system, including data gathering for litigation. The position will also provide department reporting and documentation as needed, completion of non-compliance filings to Sunshine 811 and supply PGS’ leadership with Damage Prevention dashboards and reporting.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- High School Diploma or equivalent/GED
- Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and safe driving record
- Minimum of 4 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required Related experience consists of performing administrative and/or technical work in an office environment.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel and Word is required.
- Basic skill set in accounting or billing.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with little to no direct supervision.
- Must have demonstrated good judgment, an exceptional ability to organize and prioritize daily work and/or assignments and to maintain effectiveness when handling multiple tasks.
- Must be computer literate, with intermediate knowledge of MS Excel, Access, and Word, and be able to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide, decimals, fractions, basic algebra and geometry);
- Must be able to focus on repetitive tasks for long periods of time.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor the damage reporting system to identify new claims for completeness and approval for billing. Audits damage claims for accuracy. Invoices appropriate parties for collection of damaged facilities and transmits this data to the collection agency. Coordinates claims activity between the collections firm and PGS’ local operating centers. Completes general accounting functions related to damage claims, i.e. reconciling balances, adjusting claims, writing off uncollectable debt, and calculating company reserves. (50%)
- Provides statewide team member training, guidance, and support to ensure company-wide consistency of 3rd party damage documentation and invoicing practices. (20%)
- Completes and transmits Sunshine 811 non-compliance documentation on contractors that damage PGS’ due to their failure to request a locate ticket. (10%)
- Performs additional administrative duties and responsibilities as needed, and at the request of the Supervisor, including: (20%)
- Creates purchase requisitions and service entry sheets in SAP.
- Produces monthly damage prevention reports for management and accounting. Assists the Damage Prevention and Public Awareness programs as needed with reports and analysis of damage trending data and other detail as requested.
- Provides back-up and administrative support to the Damage Prevention staff in event of vacations, overflow of work, and storm restoration.
WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE?
- Degree in relevant field from an ABET accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is preferred; Administrative experience in a utility, engineering or construction office environment;
- Knowledge of Sunshine 811 State Law
- Experience working and navigating a ticket management system and/or the company systems such as the Leak Management System (LMS) and ESRI (GIS mapping) systems;
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Access is preferred.
- Knowledge of the TECO Peoples Gas Customer Information System (CIS), pipeline damage incident investigation procedures, state and federal laws governing damage prevention and the one-call process and excavation operations, i.e. the location and marking of pipelines, and related utility operations. Possess the understanding of basic gas distribution operations and methods of construction strongly preferred, Working knowledge of ESRI (GIS mapping) systems.

WHERE AND HOW YOU WILL WORK (Working Conditions)
In support of Operations, the Damage Prevention & Public Awareness Programs this position will require overnight travel. The duration will depend on the needs of the local operations and the upcoming training scheduled; will likely exceed 20 overnight stays per year.

Incident Response Assignment
