How will you help drive the future of natural gas? 
The Coordinator Gas Control is responsible for the direct oversight and support of the Operational Compliance activities within the Gas Control. Develop and maintain processes and data necessary for compliance with Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regulations and company procedures. Responsible for developing operational and compliance recommendations based on regulatory requirements. Coordinate departmental changes with key stakeholders using the Management of Change (MOC) process.

 

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution; in lieu of Bachelor’s degree, additional years related equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required. Related experience consists of office experience in a natural gas utility in progressively more complex assignments/roles.
  • Demonstrated skills in analysis and problem solving, successfully applying skills to situations of higher complexity in a logically and in a timely manner
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Technical aptitude, forward-thinking abilities, creativity, initiative, and resourcefulness
  • Demonstrated excellent attention to detail 
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to individuals internal and external of PGS
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the department’s compliance with PHMSA regulations concerning Control Room Management and prepare for and facilitate Public Service Commission (PSC) inspections. 
  • Prepare a compliance schedule and complete all compliance tasks and plan reviews.
  • Recommend improvements for departmental compliance.
  • Monitor training records for all qualified Gas Control Analysts and assign and track training sessions and progress.
  • Provide department quality assurance to ensure records are compliant with regulations by reviewing daily records in SharePoint.
  • Provide coaching to Gas Control Analysts for processes and procedures.
  • Oversee the (MOC) process for Gas Control by reviewing incoming requests, coordinate changes with SCADA Administrator, service area personnel, and M&R personnel, and document and communicate changes to Gas Control Analysts
  • Develop, document, and update Gas Control policies and procedures
  • Administer Gas Control SharePoint site. Provide support to Gas Control staff for SharePoint functionality and process improvements
  • Create and maintain departmental reports in Report Builder
  • Backup other Gas Control Coordinator(s) as needed

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college
  • Experience with Control Room Management regulations, Experience in a Gas Control environment, Experience in natural gas related compliance functions, SharePoint experience including system administration, InfoPath, and SharePoint Designer
  • Knowledge of Control Room Management regulations
  • Knowledge of natural gas distribution and transmission operations
  • Working knowledge of the design and operational characteristics of natural gas distribution systems, including gate stations and regulator stations

  • This department is staffed 24/7 
  • May be required to work varied shifts depending on seasonal, operational, or scheduling needs.
  • Storm duties may require offsite relocation including overnights during and after a storm. 
  • Some overtime may be required.

STORM DUTY REQUIREMENTS
TECO Energy and its companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our TECO Energy customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
