HOW WILL YOU HELP DRIVE THE FUTURE OF NATURAL GAS?
The Storekeeper, under minimal supervision, is responsible for maintaining the warehouse inventory, ensuring reconciliation of inventory, and overall materials management in the SAP system. Responsible for ordering and issuing all company materials to contractors and team members to ensure integrity of the storeroom.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
- 1 year of experience performing the duties and responsibilities of this position or 2 years of related experience. Related experience consists of storekeeping/warehousing tasks, functions, and responsibilities.
- Must be proficient in Windows environments.
- Must have the ability to operate a forklift.
- Must be able to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide, decimals, fractions, basic algebra and geometry).
- Must have the ability to follow complex oral and written instructions and clearly express ideas verbally and in writing.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains warehouse inventory, to include but not limited to daily forklift operation for deliveries and yard management, environmental safety and biannual audit support for hazardous waste management and hazmat documentation, KPMG reviews, records management, etc.
- Responsible for ordering all materials for maintenance and construction activities.
- Responsible for all material transactions. Answers questions regarding procedures and resolves discrepancies regarding material issues, material receipts, packing slips, and deliveries.
- Issues all materials to contractors and team members from storeroom and reconciles returns to stock.
- Creates Purchase Orders for vendors in SAP. Receives and inspects all incoming materials and reconciles with purchase orders; processes and distributes documentation with purchase orders; reports, documents and tracks damages and discrepancies on orders received.
- May be responsible for meter and regulator activity including ordering, shipping, and distribution to various operating locations as necessary.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

- Previous work experience in the natural gas industry.
- Knowledge of natural gas industry materials and/or equipment.
- Knowledge of computer-based inventory management system and/or materials management experience in SAP.
- Materials Management in SAP, Records Management and Quality Assurance. Shipping and Receiving experience.

WHERE AND HOW YOU WILL WORK
- Must be able to work outdoors and in a warehouse environment for an extended period of time.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS
- Must be comfortable with daily forklift use.
- Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, stairs and the like using feet, legs, hands and arms.
- Must be able to maintain balance when walking, standing, or crouching, on/in narrow or slippery surfaces and/or spaces.
- Must be able to independently operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.
- Must have vision correctable to 20/40.
- Must have the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships of objects.
- Must be able to express and exchange ideas verbally.
- Must be able to bend and/or stoop requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Must be able to kneel and or crouch by bending legs at knees to come to rest at knees and bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
- Must be able to walk, stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to grasp/handle small hand tools and other objects by applying pressure with fingers and palms.
- Must be able to work primarily with fingers (pinching, picking, etc.) rather than using the whole hand or arm.
- Must be able to pull, push, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must not have an average hearing loss greater than 40 decibels in the better ear at frequencies of 500, 1000 and 2000 with or without a hearing aid.
- Must be able to smell gas odorant in normal concentrations.
- Must be able to rotate and revolve body (twist) as to face in another direction.
- Must be physically capable of indoor/outdoor manual labor

Incident Response Assignment
Our community relies on Peoples Gas to respond swiftly and effectively to all types of incidents, including but not limited to major storm events (e.g., extreme cold, tropical storms, hurricanes), gas leaks, equipment failures, environmental hazards, and other emergencies that may impact public safety or service continuity.
Peoples Gas depends on each team member to fulfill their primary and/or alternate roles and responsibilities during such incidents. As a Team Member of Peoples Gas, you will be assigned an Incident Response Assignment, receive training related to your role, and may participate in mock drills or exercises simulating various emergency scenarios.
