HOW YOU’LL HELP DRIVE THE FUTURE OF NATURAL GAS?
The Field Damage Prevention Leader will provide leadership to division operations personnel, including contractor resources, who's primary job function is locating natural gas facilities. The Supervisor will oversee successful completion of assigned job activities by planning, organizing, and monitoring procedures and processes. The Supervisor, in conjunction with the Division Manager, ensures that division goals are in alignment with the Company's business plan. Provides operational assistance to divisional leadership and assist with resource sharing opportunities. Ensure that all dig safe tickets are completed accurately and within the required timeframes. This role is responsible to drive the damage prevention program and is accountable for reducing the number of damages in their Division.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
- Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 4 years of a related natural gas utility operations experience, including 2 years in a leadership role providing direct oversight and control of a team or project in operations, safety, or engineering.
- Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Thorough knowledge of company policies/procedures and Public Service Commission requirements.
- Ability to multi-task, delegate to others and respond effectively to high level stress situations.
- Excellent interpersonal, team building and demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop personnel.
- Strong oral and written communications skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely express and exchange ideas and to effectively conduct presentations.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides leadership, training and coaching of assigned division operations personnel to ensure understanding of job responsibilities, development of skills and maximized performance.
- Involved in Selection for Excellence, Performance Reviews, Individual Development Planning, and team member hiring, promotions, progressions, recognitions/rewards, positive disciplines and separations from the organization.
- Creates and adjusts work schedules for assigned personnel (vacations, holidays and emergency call-out) and updates work force management programs for automatic routing.
- Coordinates the maintenance and repair of Division Office facilities, fleet vehicles, off-road equipment and power-driven tools and equipment.
- Coordinates and assures the successful completion of all dig-safe locate request and damage prevention activities.
- Coordinates and rectifies unlocatable facilities with outside contractors and/or internal resources.
- Conduct field site visits and investigates and resolves a variety of customer and contractor concerns and issues.
- Coordinates and regulates the use of contractors.
- Approves contractor billing.
- Maintains required qualification records for all team members and contractors.
- Improve Division Damage Prevention Metrics.
- Reduce excavation damages, including at-fault damages to PGS buried facilities.
- Lead DP related projects through implementation, to include development and compliance verification of DP related standards and processes.
- Provide optimized support resulting in efficiencies for Damage Prevention.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
- Maintains all Public Service Commission requirements as they pertain to the PGS natural gas distribution system.
- Investigates Company involved incidents/accidents and responds to after-hour emergencies and gas outages, performing as the After-Hours Coordinator/Supervisor on a rotating basis as assigned on the call-out Duty Schedule.
- Provide SME oversight to facility damage investigations and reporting.
- Liaison to both company and third-party lawyers to seek recovery of losses.

- Subject matter expert on safe digging practices, 811 program expectations and knowledge of tools and equipment for locating execution.

WHERE AND HOW YOU’LL WORK?
- Will be required to act as the After-Hours Coordinator/Supervisor on a rotating basis as assigned on the call-out Duty Schedule.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to pass a pulmonary function test for use of respiratory equipment.
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment for work assigned.
- Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, stairs and the like using feet, legs, hands and arms.
- Must be able to maintain balance when walking, standing, or crouching, on/in narrow or slippery surfaces and/or spaces.
- Must be able to independently operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.
- Must be able to independently enter/exit a motor vehicle as required during an eight hour shift.
- Must be able to bend and/or stoop requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Must be able to kneel and or crouch by bending legs at knees to come to rest at knees and bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
- Must be able to walk, stand or sit for periods of time.
- Must be able to grasp/handle small hand tools and other objects by applying pressure with fingers and palms.
- Must be able to work primarily with fingers (pinching, picking, etc.) rather than using the whole hand or arm.
- Must be able to pull, push, lift and carry objects weighing up to 35 lbs.
- Must have vision correctable to 20/40.
- Must not have an average hearing loss greater than 40 decibels in the better ear at frequencies of 500, 1000 and 2000 with or without a hearing aid.
- Must be able to smell gas odorant in normal concentrations.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motions by extending arms and hands in any direction with substantial movement of wrists, hands and fingers.
- Must be able to rotate and revolve body (twist) as to face in another direction.
- Must be able to work outside for extended periods of time.

STORM DUTY REQUIREMENTS
TECO Energy and its companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our TECO Energy customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
