HOW WILL YOU HELP DRIVE THE FUTURE OF NATURAL GAS?

Performs maintenance, repair and calibration tasks on equipment at Company’s facilities including, but not limited to, gate stations, city gates and power plants.  Ensures the safety of employees, customers and contractors through team member / contractor training, oversite and job site inspections. The technician works in a safe manner and is responsible for following all TECO Peoples Gas Safety rules, regulations, policies, procedures and applicable Federal, State and local natural gas codes.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • A minimum of HS Diploma/GED.
  • Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License (may require CDL) with a safe driving record.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of natural gas operations experience related to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • OQ qualified for the tasks assigned; Strong technical ability.
  • Good understanding of electrical and electronic principles.
  • Working knowledge of D.O.T. requirements and natural gas codes and regulations.
  • Knowledge of safe gas distribution and service practices, including but not limited to: standards of pressure, dangers inherent in low/high pressures and the failure of pressure regulatory equipment.
  • Computer literate and skilled in the use of a lap-top computer for work orders and training. Must be able to perform math functions using a calculator (add, subtract, multiply, divide, decimals, and fractions).
  • Ability to work independently; Ability to maintain high customer satisfaction through high systems availability, with timely and accurate data and minimum system downtime; Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to individuals internal/external of TECO Peoples Gas.
  • Knowledge of the geographic areas and with ability to read and interpret maps

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs large gate station equipment, as assigned, including regulators, control valves, heaters, filters/strainers and any other associated equipment.
    • Completes accuracy testing and calibration adjustments.
    • Monitors and perform all preventative maintenance as determined and scheduled during testing.  Tracks maintenance schedules in the Work Management System (WMS).
    • Performs on-site emergency response maintenance as needed, conducting troubleshooting and performing corrective measures as assigned.
  • Completes all required calibration documentation utilizing the WMS, ensuring procedures follow accepted Engineering Principles.
  • Works with company personnel in the installation of gate station regulation, control, chromatograph and odorization systems. Replaces control equipment to ensure effective integration.
  • Ensure that all field facilities related to gas distribution and transmission pipelines comply with Federal, State and local electrical codes.
  • Perform other operational functions as assigned.

WHERE AND HOW YOU WILL WORK

  • Requires working outdoors for extended periods of time; requires working overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to gas emergencies. 
  • Requires working Call Out and Stand-by schedule on a rotating basis.

  • Must be able to independently ingress/egress and operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.

Incident Response Assignment

Our community relies on Peoples Gas to respond swiftly and effectively to all types of incidents, including but not limited to major storm events (e.g., extreme cold, tropical storms, hurricanes), gas leaks, equipment failures, environmental hazards, and other emergencies that may impact public safety or service continuity.

 

Peoples Gas depends on each team member to fulfill their primary and/or alternate roles and responsibilities during such incidents. As a Team Member of Peoples Gas, you will be assigned an Incident Response Assignment, receive training related to your role, and may participate in mock drills or exercises simulating various emergency scenarios.
