As a Security Operations Coordinator, you’ll play a critical role in keeping Peoples Gas employees, facilities, and leadership safe. You’ll coordinate physical security operations, emergency response, executive protection, and contract security teams—while partnering closely with leadership and law enforcement.
This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role for someone ready to lead from the front and make real‑time decisions that matter.
What You’ll Do
You’ll oversee and coordinate day‑to‑day and emergency security operations across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate physical security operations and manage contracted armed/unarmed security teams
- Lead response efforts for high‑risk incidents (e.g., workplace violence, threats, criminal incidents)
- Review security logs, identify risks, and take immediate corrective action
- Plan and lead security drills, active shooter training, and emergency exercises
- Serve as the lead for executive protection, ensuring safe travel and movement of leadership
- Manage security projects, including resource planning, equipment coordination, and compliance checks
- Maintain 24/7 on‑call readiness for alarms, incidents, and emergency events
- Partner with law enforcement, emergency management, and internal teams during incidents
- Support regulatory audits (e.g., TSA, corporate compliance) and ensure adherence to standards

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (or High School Diploma/GED fron an accreditated institution and 7+ years of relevant experience)
- 5+ years of experience in law enforcement, military, or security operations
- Active Florida Class “C” and “G” licenses (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Demonstrated ability in incident response, security operations, and risk assessment
- Executive protection, tactical response, security force management, interview, and negotiation skills.
- Strong report writing, communication, and decision‑making skills
- Ability to work on‑call and respond to emergencies 24/7
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Homeland Security, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or related field
- Certifications such as CPP (Certified Protection Professional) or PSP
- Supervisory or team leadership experience
- Familiarity with Incident Command System (ICS) or emergency operations platforms

Incident Response Assignment
Our community relies on Peoples Gas to respond swiftly and effectively to all types of incidents, including but not limited to major storm events (e.g., extreme cold, tropical storms, hurricanes), gas leaks, equipment failures, environmental hazards, and other emergencies that may impact public safety or service continuity.
Peoples Gas depends on each team member to fulfill their primary and/or alternate roles and responsibilities during such incidents. As a Team Member of Peoples Gas, you will be assigned an Incident Response Assignment, receive training related to your role, and may participate in mock drills or exercises simulating various emergency scenarios.
