POSITION CONCEPT
Develop the long term distribution reliability plan for Energy Delivery. Conduct detailed analysis that accounts for contingencies of various elements of the distribution system. Model various distributed energy sources on the distribution system (solar, batteries, EVs) and analyze long term impacts to the system. Perform Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration (FLISR) analysis and recommend projects needed to ensure the distribution system is capable of handling various contingency scenarios. Coordinate plans and projects with System Planning, various Grid Modernization teams and the Distribution Control Center (DCC).
*Engineer classification is multi-level, based on the qualification guidelines as outlined in the Company’s Engineering Career Path, Administrative Policy 2.13. A minimum classification of Engineer I is required in this position.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (D&R)
1. Perform long term FLISR analysis to ensure proper reserves on the distribution system, and if not recommend long term mitigation projects.
2. Coordinate with GIS team, System Planning, Grid Modernization and DCC to model the most accurate current and long term forecasts in the load flow analysis software.
3. Analyze new load flow software and new software functionality in order to more easily model and analyze various impacts of DERs and EVs along with FLISR.
4. Perform contingency analysis for various reliability teams as needed
5. Coordinate with SPP, Distribution Engineering, DCC, RTU and other departments to ensure FLISR projects are implemented properly. (10%)
SUPERVISION
Direct Supervision: No direct supervisory responsibilities
Indirect Supervision: May direct other technical personnel as needed for projects, committees and general work assignments.
RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: Interacts with all levels of ED Team Members (including System Planning, Distribution Engineering, SPP, Operations Engineers, DCC, Substation Engineering, Distribution Design Technicians and others) and externally to ED, in Community Affairs, Customer Contact, and Regulatory. Works frequently with engineers, technicians and managers of various departments at Tampa Electric.
Key External: Interacts with peers of other utilities, vendors and regulatory agencies for the purposes of work completion. Occasionally may work with customers, government and/or regulatory agencies, vendors, and consultants.

Education
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
Licenses/Certifications
Preferred: Florida Professional Engineers License (Required at the Senior Consulting Engineer level).

Required: Related experience consists of Engineering in TEC or another electric utility; in TEC Distribution Engineering, Operations or Planning in roles such as System Planner, Distribution Design Technician (DDT), Distribution Design Support Technician (DDST).
Preferred: Minimum of five years of engineering experience; Experience in contingency analysis of the distribution system; Experience in the operations and maintenance best practices, risk management and capital planning in power delivery distribution or a closely related industry.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required: Familiarity of power system analysis concepts. Ability to analyze data and develop, coordinate, and implement action plans for associated improvements and accomplishments of goals; Must have the analytical abilities to identify problem situations and solve those of a routine nature, and/or have the initiative to find resolution of more complex issues through appropriate means or resources as needed.
Must have the ability to competently utilize various computer applications and effectively work in database environments to complete day-to-day job assignments efficiently (computer literacy). Must be proficient in the dimensions noted below.
Preferred: Proficiency in a Distribution load flow analysis tool (ex. Synergi, CYME). Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint). Demonstrated knowledge of Transmission, Distribution & Substation systems.
