POSITION CONCEPT

Performs functions related to all aspects of Testing Tampa Electric’s Residential, Commercial and Industrial meters using computers, WECO test boards, TESCO software, GE Meter Mate and ITRON Communications Manager.  Duties include testing single phase and three phase metering equipment.  This position could require overtime work.   All duties must be performed following the safe work practices and procedures set forth by the company.  Work is to be performed indoors.

Storm duties are “runner” T&D support. 

This position starts the line of progression in Meter Operations. Team members are expected to bid and advance in the progression as openings become available.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
    
Ensure safe work practices are utilized at all times
Clean and test single-phase self-contained and single-phase Transformer-rated meters--includes re-setting the register and returning to stock or retiring.      Includes: Plain, Network, AMI, Demand, TOU, Load Survey, and K-base.
Test three-phase self-contained and three-phase Transformer-rated meters-- includes re-setting the register and returning to stock or retiring.                         Includes: Plain, Network, Demand, Load Survey, TOU, Phone Line and K-base. Does not include: Jem meters, 2510 meters, ION and any other specialty meters. Does not install IP device.
Update meter firmware.
Warehouse assistance and back-up
Assist Meter Technicians and Meter Specialist in their job duties, as qualified (de-energized side of equipment).

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

Required: High School/GED diploma.  Valid State of Florida Class E Driver License required.  Smith Driving Training required. Will have to pass a series of training modules and OJT. After 6 months will have to pass a retention test and pass a review board to advance to 2nd step.

WORKING CONDITIONS 
Meter Tester may sit approximately 6 or more hours in an eight-hour shift.  Individual must utilize a computer, keyboard and WECO test board. Meter Tester will operate a forklift to support the warehouse and dump bins of retired meters into a dumpster.
