This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
The Gas System Tech position pays between $69,400 to $86,750, and the Senior Gas System Tech position pays between $80,500 to $100,625. Placement is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate. This pay range is composed of a current base pay range of $55,520 to $69,400 for the Gas System Tech position and $64,400 to $80,500 for the Senior Gas System Tech positon, with 25% supplemental pay, which is administered inaccordance with NMGC's Supplemental Pay Policy.

Join our team as a GIS Tech, where you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our utility infrastructure. In this position, you’ll leverage cutting-edge Geographic Information System (GIS) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools to create accurate, detailed maps and schematics that support the design, construction, and maintenance of our gas facilities. Your work will ensure the integrity and efficiency of our utility operations by producing and maintaining both electronic and hard-copy facility drawings. From updating records to supporting critical projects, you’ll be at the center of transforming data into actionable insights that keep our systems running safely and reliably.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Performs various measurement functions, including diaphragm, rotary, turbine, ultra-sonic, and orifice accuracy tests, changing charts, adjusting pressures, ensures and maintains proper pressure control, changing orifice plates, running dew point tests, witnessing meter tests, and completing necessary reports. Performs SCADA troubleshooting, repairs, and calibration.
- Designs large meter and regulator station with oversight from Engineering. Performs blow down, purging, and monitoring of transmission system.
- Troubleshoots and supports large customers with equipment operations.
- Repairs and maintains remote data transfer units, odorization equipment, meters, regulators, and relief valves.
- Investigates, records, and resolves gas leaks. Conducts annual leak surveys.
- Performs cathodic protection functions, including installation and replacement of anodes, rectifiers, and ground beds. Conducts annual cathodic protection surveys.
- Prepares, submits, and maintains required records for all leak and cathodic protection surveys, tests, and other related documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Depending on location, may perform initial inspection and analysis of compressor station.
- May perform miscellaneous duties including line locates, service, and customer service.

Successful Candidate Must Have
- A high school diploma or GED
- Must maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Gas Systems Tech: 2 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position
- Sr. Gas Systems Tech: 4 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable Operator Qualifications (OQs).
Working Conditions
Subject to 75% outdoor work, overtime, weekends, on-call, frequent travel and working within confined spaces. Works with high pressure lines, and uses self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), as neeeded. Regular standing, walking, bending, climbing, driving, sitting, lifting 20 lbs regularly and 75 lbs occasionally.
