Designer/Sr. Designer

This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on December 25, 2024.

 

The Designer position pays between $54,720 to $68,400, and the Sr. Designer position pays between $63,440.00 to $79,300.00 . Placement in any level is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

 

The successful  candidate must live within 30 minutes of the Farmington Service Center.

Are you seeking a rewarding career with a company you can retire from? Designers at New Mexico Gas Company enjoy a high level of responsibility and involvement in a range of departments. As a Designer, you will coordinate and design complex residential and commercial system improvements. In addition, you will be preparing estimates, maps, and assembling work order packages for distribution and transmission projects. Designers also have the opportunity to be involved in exciting industrial and commercial projects, major system improvements, and highway relocations. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates initial customer contact for new gas service installation, removals, relocations, customer line extension requests, and gas service/yard line order processing
  • Sets up the service requests for new installations, retirements, and relocations
  • Coordinates project-related activities, such as right-of-way, easements, permits, and environmental screening
  • Prepares design, obtains "as builts", and files manually
  • Initiates, prepares, administers, and monitors customer line extensions and contracts; collects money due
  • Reconciles and closes work orders; identifies variances as needed, and provides information to assist in department budgeting
  • Performs field research and inspections to ensure compliance with routine to complex material
  • May also perform multiple stores-related duties, such as inventories, ordering, cycle counts, material staging and issuing, and coordinating payment of vendor invoices

*Senior Level-Entry Level Duties Plus Additional Responsibilities

 

We’re Looking for Someone With: 

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Designer: 1-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
  • Sr. Designer: 5-7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
