Gas System Tech/Sr. Gas System Tech

This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Thursday, October 24, 2024. 

 

The Gas System Tech position pays between $68,400 to $85,500, and the Senior Gas System Tech position pays between $79,300 to $99,125. Placement is based on the skills, experience, and education of the successful candidate. This pay range is composed of a current base pay range of $54,720 to $68,400 and $63,440 to $79,300 with 25% supplemental pay, which is administered in accordance with NMGC’s Supplemental Pay Policy.

You will be diagnosing malfunctions, making repairs and replacing parts on transmission or distribution systems. Areas of expertise can vary, depending on location, but may include pressure control, leak survey, or corrosion functions. You will never get bored with this rewarding career!

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs various measurement functions, including diaphragm, rotary, turbine, ultra-sonic, and orifice accuracy tests, changing charts, adjusting pressures, ensures and maintains proper pressure control, changing orifice plates, running dew point tests, witnessing meter tests, and completing necessary reports. Performs SCADA troubleshooting, repairs, and calibration.
  • Troubleshoots and supports large customers with equipment operations.
  • Designs large meter and regulator station with oversight from Engineering. Performs blow down, purging, and monitoring of transmission system.
  • Repairs and maintains remote data transfer units, odorization equipment, meters, regulators, relief valves, analyzers, and chromatographs.
  • Prepares, submits, and maintains required records for all leak and cathodic protection surveys, tests, and other related documentation in a timely and accurate manner.

*Senior Level: Entry Level Duties Plus Additional Responsibilities

 

Successful Candidate Must Have:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Gas Systems Tech: 2 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position. 
  • Sr. Gas Systems Tech: 4 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position. 
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record 
  • Preferred experience in electrical work and SCADA systems

 

Working Conditions:
Subject to 75% outdoor work, overtime, weekends, on-call, frequent travel and working within confined spaces. Works with high pressure lines, and uses self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), as needed. Regular standing, walking, bending, climbing, driving, sitting, lifting 20 lbs regularly and 75 lbs occasionally.
