Supervisor, Energy Efficiency Marketing & Education

This position pays between $96,000.00 to $120,000.00 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

 

Position Concept

The Supervisor of Energy Efficiency Marketing and Education is a pivotal leadership position responsible for driving residential energy efficiency programs that empower customers, support communities, and meet critical regulatory standards. This role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on leadership, providing direction, coaching, and support to ensure high‑quality program delivery across multiple initiatives, including School and Senior Education Programs. You’ll help shape operational processes, strengthen customer engagement, and ensure programs are executed consistently and effectively—all while supporting a broader mission of safety, service, and sustainability.

 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees and monitors marketing and education activities to support strategic initiatives and achieve residential and commercial demand-side management program goals. 
  • Develops and establishes departmental performance standards. Analyzes data and reports to adjust resources and work assignments as needed to meet goals and objectives. Ensures compliance with departmental and New Mexico Gas Company standards, policies, and procedures. 
  • Provides and/or oversees departmental and interdepartmental Energy Efficiency training related to program changes, including technical training and soft skills development. Utilizes multiple monitoring methods including side by side reviews, call monitoring, and analysis of daily statistics, and applies coaching skills to reinforce or redirect employees’ behavior. 
  • Oversees the Marketing and Education budget recovered through the Energy Efficiency Rider to ensure expenses are prudent and recoverable. Analyzes budget needs and provides financial reporting of the program to all levels of management. Reviews and approves marketing invoices associated with NMGC’s conservation programs to ensure accuracy and evaluates vendor invoices for marketing and education materials. 
  • Oversees contract negotiations and evaluates contractor performance for vendors supplying marketing materials for residential Energy Education conservation programs. 
  • Develops marketing and communication campaigns designed to encourage customer participation and support conservation goals and objectives. 
  • Executes strategic initiatives for the Residential Energy Education Program to increase customer participation and manage expenses effectively. Ensures program compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Collaborates with internal New Mexico Gas Company departments to support successful execution of Energy Efficiency strategies and daily operations. 

 

Successful Candidate Must Have

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, Finance or Accounting
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • 4 years of direct work experience performing the duties and responsibilities of this or a similar position. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of related experience is required. 
  • 2 years of supervisory or project leadership experience
  • Preferences: Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Business Energy Professional (BEP); Utility industry experience and/or experience with marketing energy efficiency programs; Experience supervising a multi-functional work team in a utility customer service environment.  

 

Working Conditions

Some weekend and extended hours beyond the normal work week (M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) are required during public events, program kick offs, and emergency conditions.
