The Manager, Safety position pays between $125,600 and $157,000, and placement is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Ensure department Safety programs comply with Federal, State and local Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations and Standards.
- Develop and lead implementation of changes in department work practices, partnering with operations management and safety team to reflect current OSHA Regulations and Standards. (15%)
- Oversight and accountability for the Safety Operations and Maintenance (O&M) budget. (10%)
- Serves as the primary company spokesperson with governmental agencies on all matters related to safety compliance. Develops recommendations on regulations, standards and industry practices related to the operations of a Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution Company. (10%)
- Implements and promotes the acceptance and implementation of safe work practices; responds to questions of interpretation of safe work practices. Makes recommendations regarding changes in safe work practices; oversees revisions to the Safe Work Practices and Safety Manual. (10%)
- Directs Safety training in reinforcement of Safety & Occupational Health issues. Supervises departmental safety training programs as required. (10%)
Successful Candidate Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Arts, or related field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- A valid driver's License
- Five (5) years of experience successfully performing progressively more complex assignments in a Safety professional role with five (5) years Safety Management Systems experience. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree an additional four (4) years of direct work experience performing the Duties and responsibilities of this or similar position; preferably in Natural Gas operations.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment, with occasional travel throughout the state of New Mexico as needed. Maintains emergency on-call status (24/7). Must be able to work irregular hours, overtime and possible holidays.
