Environmental Scientist/Sr. Environmental Scientist

City:  Albuquerque
State:  NM

 

This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Friday, January 31, 2025.

 

The Environmental Scientist pays between $63,440 and $79,300, and the Senior Environmental Scientist pays between $78,640 and $98,300. Placement in any level is based on skills, experience, and education of the successful candidate.

Are you passionate about environmental sustainability and eager to make a significant impact? We are seeking a dedicated professional to inform and advise peers and department management on project status, direction, and environmental risks. In this role, you will coordinate and appraise the work of environmental consultants and contractors, assist in reviewing legislation and regulatory issues, and consult with various departments and organizations on environmental constraints.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Informs and advises peers and department management on project status, direction and environmental risk
  • Coordinates and appraises the work of environmental consultants and contractors
  • Assists in the review of legislation, legal, and regulatory issues
  • Participates in due diligence assessments for multiple types of transactions associated with real property and operational assets
  • Scopes and determines needed work product for specific issues
  • Interprets laboratory/field analytical results and compares to regulatory requirements
  • Participates in environmental audit programs
  • Coordinates and responds to spills and wildlife emergencies

*Senior Level: Entry Level Duties Plus Additional Responsibilities


Successful Candidate Must Have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Environmental Scientist: 2-4 years of environmental-related experience
  • Sr. Environmental Scientist: 5-7 years of environmental-related experience
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Preferred experience with the NEPA and/or cultural resources 

 

Working Conditions 
Field/office environment. Ability to stand and/or walk up to 2/3 of the time and sit up to 1/3 of the time. Manual dexterity required and the ability to talk, see and hear. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Occasional bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting and climbing. Some travel required. Exposed to outside weather conditions during fieldwork and construction environments. Exposure to wildlife.
