Systems Analyst (Progression)

 

POSITION CONCEPT 
The Systems Analyst will be responsible for systems administration, support, and implementation for TECO Peoples Gas’s operational-related systems.  They provide technical and strategic guidance to ensure that implementation of solutions deliver reliable performance and meet the business needs of TECO.   They collaborate on all phases of the software development life-cycle (SDLC) and utilize appropriate development tools and technologies in keeping with our IT architecture.  

 

We are looking for someone who is proficient with:
•    Systems support of vendor-provided solutions
•    System architecture and Windows hardware platforms
•    Design and/or development of data integration between dissimilar systems
•    SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
•    Process and Data Flow Analysis
•    Business and Technology Gap Analysis
•    Detailed design and system’s documentation

 

Optional proficiencies include working knowledge of the following:
•    MS Azure Cloud Computing Service
•    Interface tools (Ex. Biztalk, SSIS, SAP PO)
•    Database management systems (Ex. Oracle, MS SQL Server) 
•    Analytic tools and reporting (Ex. Crystal Reports, SSRS, Power BI, OpenText, etc.)
•    SAP Utilities Model

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
1.    Implements software packages for which in-depth configuration and integration is required; drives substantial interaction with vendor resources; integrates applications with complex interfaces.
2.    Provides technical support of vendor developed applications; working with external vendors and internal business partners to resolve issues.
3.     Provides 24x7 primary and/or secondary support for one or more applications classified as core or mission-critical 
4.    Supports request/analysis phases of SDLC by producing required documentation and estimates; executes the design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC; reviews deliverables produced by junior staff; may function as Technical Lead on projects. 
5.    Collaborates with Business Systems Analysts and/or Business Partners to develop software specifications; acquires and maintains knowledge of business areas relevant to projects and application support assignments.  

 

SUPERVISION
Provides no direct supervision; but may be assigned a leadership role as “Technical Lead or Project Manager” which may include overseeing contract resources and/or junior staff.

RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:    Interacts with all levels of team members throughout the TECO Energy companies.  Frequently interacts with other IT support groups.    
External:    Interacts with outside consulting firm personnel and software and hardware vendors.

 

EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Degree must be from an institution accredited by the Commissions on Colleges
Required:    Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline. 
Preferred:    At least one professional certification in specific job-related disciplines.

 

Required for Systems Analyst: 
    Two years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development.
    Two years of work experience at a company supporting business operations-related solutions.

 

Required for the Senior Systems Analyst level: 
    Six years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development.
Two years of work experience at a Electric, Natural Gas, Water, or Telecommunications utility company supporting business operations-related solutions.

 

Required for the Systems Analyst Consultant level: 
    Ten years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development.
Two years of work experience at a Electric, Natural Gas, Water, or Telecommunications utility company supporting business operations-related solutions.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
•    Strong knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies.  Stays current with IT industry trends and emerging technologies; suggests application of new technologies when appropriate.
•    Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.  Frequently presents information to their team and department; proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
•    Creates and reviews technical design specifications and possesses strong knowledge of tools and technologies in support of the Information Technology Architecture, including servers and server management.
•    Proficient use of tools such as (PL/SQL Developer, SQL Server MS, Visual Studio). 
•    Understands project plans and able to clearly articulate their role, project goals, and timelines.  Develops project plans for small projects; partners with Project Managers to develop project plans for large projects.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
•    Experience with the support and management of Meter Data Management (MDM), Field Collection, and mobile field solutions.
•    Experience with the support and management of system architecture, windows hardware platform, and cloud technologies.
•    Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental concepts of (SQL, C#, VB.net) programming languages
•    Knowledge of Electric and/or Natural Gas utility operations and controls
