Accountabilities:

This position will lead teams of information technology professionals, business partners and vendors, providing technical, professional, and personal leadership to assure the successful testing of IT&T projects.  Under general direction, responsible for all aspects of project life cycle testing and will act as a single point of contact for those projects.  Manages and mentors other test personnel within the Test group.  Also responsible for managing vendors providing out-sourced test services.  In addition, this person will facilitate alignment of test methodologies with the systems development methodology and associated processes used within the IT&T Department.   

 

Key elements of the role include:

  • Work with the Project Management Office (PMO) and project teams in defining and sequencing test activities, estimating test tasks, and building the overall test plan to achieve project objectives.
  • Provide test leadership on IT projects (of varying size and complexity) running concurrently.
  • Manage coordination with outside vendors for test services, as needed.
  • Communicate project test information and status to the PMO, project managers and stakeholders, escalating any test issues or risks appropriately.
  • Develop departmental test procedures and reporting to ensure alignment with IT Standards and Procedures and actively facilitate the continual improvement of test management processes and tools to include IT test metrics.
  • Manage and coordinate project-related test activities of several information technology professionals and manage contract workers as required.
  • Provide management support, to include training and guidance, and oversee work of assigned staff/contractors/vendors to ensure quality results.

 

Competencies, Education and Experience

Required:

  • 8+ years of experience in managing IT projects.  In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, a valid High School diploma/GED and 10 years of IT test work experience may be considered.
  • 2 years of Supervisory or project team lead experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology from regionally accredited college/university (in lieu of degree, additional years’ IT test work experience may be considered).
  • Strong leadership, planning and organizing, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong Program Management Office (PMO) experience.
  • Must have demonstrated sound technical knowledge in areas relating to Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Program Management Office (PMO), and project portfolio analysis 

Preferred:

  • 3 years of Program Management Office supervisory or management experience.
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology related discipline.
  • Current industry-level certification (IT or Project Management).
