What you will be doing if you are offered this position & accept:

 

Our Cloud Solutions Architect is responsible for leading the creation of a technology architecture framework and providing technical leadership in support of the organizations initiatives in cloud computing by leveraging cloud services and automation and ensuring public and private cloud services and solutions are architected and designed optimally for cost, functionality, reliability and resiliency. The Architect will also be responsible for implementation and delivery of the organization’s cloud computing strategy along with the introduction of new emerging technologies and public cloud services, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring strategies. The Architect will work with development teams and other stakeholders and provide architecture leadership and best practices as well as drive and enable the migration and refactoring of on-premises applications to cloud native design and deployment methodologies.

 

This position may be considered for a remote work arrangement with periodic travel to Tampa, FL as well as on an as needed basis.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Cloud Architecture and Design and Development:
    • Demonstrate deep subject matter leadership of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability)
    • Manage the development and implementation of cloud strategy, develop the architecture governance framework, and define architecture foundations.
    • Define cloud standards, DevOps, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tool chain and Standard Operating Environment (SOE)
    • Define, implement, and enforce the cloud standard operating environment, cloud standards, and associated tools/platforms/frameworks for the organization’s application portfolio, in coordination with IT-wide efforts and Technology Architecture and Planning
    • Drive Proof-of-Concepts and implementation, with hands-on involvement as SME, for new SOE items: build deployment automation pipelines, build automated next gen CI/CD pipelines partnering with development teams, build and integrate new technologies like containers enabling multi-cloud and preventing cloud provider lock-in
    • Define and execute the IT application portfolio strategy for public and private cloud migrations and on-premises evolution, in alignment with overall IT strategy and directions.
    • Define and enforce Cloud architecture best practices: availability; redundancy schemes, performance, Disaster Recovery, DB, and Interfacing Systems, etc.
    • Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for the organizations cloud end-to-end architecture, including SAP, Azure platforms etc. networking, provisioning, and management.
    • Develop a library of deployable and documented cloud design patterns, based on the organization’s application portfolio, as a basis for deploying services to the cloud.
  • Consultation:
    • Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment.
    • Ensure delivered solutions meet/perform to technical and functional/non-functional requirements.
    • Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners.
  • Mentoring:
    • Act as the coach and mentor to team members and technical staff on their assigned project tasks including mentoring on cloud standards, frameworks etc. as well as will be a key enabler of the organizations cultural change for cloud adoption.
    • Lead the definition and development of cloud reference architecture and management systems.
    • metadata (technical and user) describing:
      • Data sources.
      • Analytic data structures.
      • BIA application semantic layer(s).
      • BIA applications (reports, dashboards, OLAP cubes, etc.).

 

Education & Experience Requirements:

 

  • 7+ years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this position or performing duties closely related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position. Including:
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including technical architecture, network and storage management, software application solution architecture, design or development, middleware, database management or operations.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience with cloud technologies and platforms such as SAP, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
    •  3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent discipline.  from a regionally accredited college/university.

 

In addition, the following it will help you stand out even more:

 

  • One, or more, current professional certifications in specific job-related disciplines.
  • Advanced degree(s) in business administration, computer science, information systems, or related information technology field.
  • Gas or Electric utility experience.
  • Experience working in large public or private sector organizations.

 

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSA):

 

Required:

 

  • Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers and emerging computing trends
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply trends to architectural needs.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise platforms and operating systems as well as knowledge of key business applications, functions, and processes
  • Willingness to instruct and coach in a cloud training program as needed.
  • Ability to interact with and provide architectural design guidance to project teams made up of employee and/or supplier resources.
  • Experience in creating a cloud strategy and coordinate adoption and implementation.
  • Knowledge and Understanding of Cloud Native Development
    • Micro Services architecture
    • Containerization (Kubernetes, Docker etc.)
  • Automation Framework and Tools (RPA, Low Code etc.)
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments
  • Knowledge of all components of a technical architecture and application development methodologies
  • Relevant Design and Development experience
    • Analyzing and defining technical requirements & design specifications
    • Object oriented programming (.NET Core/C#, Java/C/C++ etc.), domain driven design
    • Database Design (RDBMS-MS-SQL, SAP HANA, and NoSQL)
    • Creating Production Grade software solutions using Enterprise Design Patterns and Non-Functional Requirements
    • Web-based solutions (ReactJS, Angular JS, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery etc.)
    • Integrating complex multi-tier systems
    • Application Lifecycle Management (ALM – JIRA etc.) and toolsets (git, Bamboo, Jenkins, TFS, Ansible etc.)
    • Building CI/CD pipeline for the Application
    • Troubleshooting - Debugging, Performance profiling and optimization
    • Agile development methodologies including Kanban and Scrum
    • Creating Architecture/Design documents (HLD/LLD) with models, system diagrams / UML
    • Evaluating software trade-offs and risks to successful project completion
    • Evaluating & selecting software framework for a solution
    • API Design and development
  • Hands-on Experience with Azure, SAP Cloud platform implementation
    • IP networking, VPN's, DNS, load balancing & firewalls, including strong working knowledge of cloud pattern best practices.
    • Cloud Security experience in the areas of Identity and Access Management, Infrastructure Security, Data Security and Application Security e.g., Security Groups, IAM policies, NACLs etc.
    • Establishing and managing file and object storage (SAN, NAS etc.)
    • Data archiving, backup, and disaster recovery to the cloud.
    • Building, changing, and managing cloud environments via Infrastructure as Code development.
  • Knowledge and experience with requirements gathering techniques, including information requirements, report requirements, etc.
  • Knowledge of data and application testing approaches and techniques.
  • Workshop facilitation techniques (e.g., requirements, design)
  • Project management and governance techniques
  • Includes both excellent listening skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with a wide variety of audiences.
  • The ability to work effectively with senior management and other stakeholders.  It includes the ability to conduct workshops, interviews, and meetings and to set and manage expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to champion a clear vision for systems to be implemented and the manner for which they will support business unit processes.
  • Demonstrated ability leading teams in support of business process analysis efforts and educating others in the proper application of tools and techniques.
  • Understanding of project plans and ability to clearly articulate roles, project goals, and timelines.  Understanding of the components of running a fiscally successful project.  Demonstrated proficiency at assessing the proposed project plans to ensure all needs are met.
  • Drives continuous process improvement for SDLC, maintenance, application support, and Information Technology architecture

 

Preferred:

 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP Utilities Solutions (ERP, CRM, EAM/WAM et al).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Electric Grid Solutions such as ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System), EMS (Energy Management System), AMI/MDM (Advanced Metering Infrastructure/Meter Data Management), Intergraph GIS (Geographical Information System)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Gas Utility Operations solutions such as ESRI GIS, Gas SCADA, Gas Management System, Meter Reading Systems etc.
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning etc.), Block Chain etc.
  • Ability to assess emerging business & regulatory changes and articulate how these can positively impact the Company.
