Accountabilities:

As the organization goes through transformational change, Tampa Electric is seeking a Vice President, Human Resources to lead and manage the overall delivery of Human Resources services, policies, and programs. Working in collaboration with People’s Gas and New Mexico Gas Company, the successful incumbent will also provide core HR services to these US Affiliates.

More specifically, the Vice President, Human Resources will:

  • Partner with the executive team and operations to develop and implement HR strategies, policies and programs which are aligned with and support Tampa Electric’s growth strategy.
  • Provide counsel and functional expertise to optimize leadership effectiveness throughout the business and be responsible for ensuring HR policies, procedures, business practices and systems are in place and maintained.
  • Add value by providing thought leadership and using best practices to build a high-performing culture with people-centric leadership while supporting operational excellence.
  • Lead Tampa Electric through transformational change, providing executive coaching and support for senior leaders related to change leadership.
  • Collaborate with Emera Inc. to ensure strategic initiatives are aligned with Emera’s broader HR strategy.
  • Manage HR responsibilities such as organizational development, recruitment, labor relations, employee relations and engagement, health and safety, benefits and compensation.
  • Ensure Tampa Electric and it’s US affiliates can attract, retain and develop top talent and high potential employees to achieve business objectives and become the next generation of leaders.
  • Think conceptually and strategically to support company growth while maintaining a practical, sustainable, innovative and results-driven approach.
  • Ensure appropriate governance and compliance.

The Vice President, Human Resources will play a critical role in Tampa Electric’s future growth and success.

Competencies, Education and Experience

 

  • 15+ years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • A university degree in Business, Human Resources or related field coupled with a Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) Certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading transformational change in a large and complex organization.
  • A natural collaborator that excels at balancing the needs of different stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with all levels of management.
  • Ability to articulate and introduce new ideas and ignite and facilitate change.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Adept at optimizing a multigenerational workforce.
  • Ability to operate with integrity and authenticity.
