POSITION CONCEPT

Provide technical and analytical support for the Transmission Engineering Team. Develop and present reports and specifications, process information requests concerning engineered work orders, process/procedure management and quality assurance and control (QA/QC) of transmission maps, coordinate and develop CAD records.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide engineering support for the department . Assemble work packages and produce electrical one-line diagrams. Use Adobe Acrobat, GIS, AutoCAD/MicroStation to maintain maps and records providing detailed drafting designs, as-built diagrams & plots. Use GIS and AutoCAD to review road construction plans for potential transmission line encroachments and assign for engineer review as required. Coordinate the reconciliation and closeout process for work requests. Compile and organize information for miscellaneous reports, manuals and perform other administration duties as assigned (e.g.  Past Due Materials report, circuit list, Transmission Engineering Technical Manual)..Maintain and update System Diagrams by cross referencing the Energy Management System, Substation One Line Diagrams and construction one lines.  Coordinate with Substation Engineering, Grid Operations and Mapping Services to ensure consistency across the various system records. Provide engineering field support for structure surveys and site meetings to review potential Transmission conflicts.Use PLS-CADD to develop and support the maintenance of the system wide structure and circuit models to be used in transmission line evaluations
  • Provide budget preparation, variance analysis and forecasting. Produce resource expenditure reports for determining schedules and financial/activity forecasting. Generate and track purchase requisitions and service entry sheets in support of the Engineering Team.
  • Solicit external vendors (and internal departments) for their monthly forecasts and track all invoices for payment, accruals and balances. Provide year to date explanations and budget updates/differentials.. Track expenses posting to the department budget using PowerPlan and resolve discrepancies with Accounts Payable and/or vendors.
  • Develop and maintain Engineering databases.Catalog the technical library reference material and project estimates. Issue circuit numbers to Transmission field personnel and/or retire circuit numbers as appropriate by maintaining the circuit number database.
  • Populate, verify and maintain the Transmission Engineering sections of the Energy Delivery Weak Link Database including line switches, wire types, lengths, and equipment ampacity.

 

EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS 

(Degree must be in accordance with TECO’s education policy)

Required:  High School Diploma

Preferred: Two year appropriate degree

 

EXPERIENCE  

Required:  Minimum of ­­­­­­5 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required. Related experience consists of: creating or modifying one-line diagrams, AutoCAD, GIS, WorkPro scheduling, work request and budget process.  College education may be considered in lieu of comparable direct/related experience. 

Preferred:  Utility electrical system design, PLS-CADD, SharePoint, HTML and MS Access Database

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILIITES KSA)

Required:  Ability to read and interpret electrical one line diagrams, excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills, interpersonal and technical skills along with knowledge of office management techniques is required.  Must be detail-oriented, communicate effectively and use varying degrees of independence, judgment and discretion.   Must be proficient using MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat or equivalent to create or modify documents and drawings.  In addition, knowledge of company budgetary methodology and procedures, departmental policies and contractual agreements and an ability to multitask and to work in deadline driven high stress environment.

Preferred: Primavera, MS Access database construction, MicroStation
