Systems Analyst (Varies)

POSITION CONCEPT:

The Storm Protection Plan (SPP) Analyst is a technical expert in the implementation and support of advanced custom solutions.  They provide technical and strategic guidance to ensure that implementation of solutions deliver reliable performance and meet the business needs of TECO. The analyst will collaborate on all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC). They will utilize appropriate development tools and technologies in keeping with our IT architecture for commissioning hardware and software applications while maintaining awareness of Cyber security.

 

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops software of moderate complexity based on specifications provided. 
  2. Implements software packages for which moderate configuration and integration is required; interaction with vendor resources remotely or onsite may be required.
  3. Integrates applications with moderately complex interfaces based on specifications provided.
  4. Provides 24x7 primary and/or secondary support for one or more applications classified as niche, core, or mission-critical. 
  5. Supports the request and analysis phases of SDLC by producing required documentation and estimates with review by more senior staff.
  6. Executes the design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC by producing the prescribed deliverables with review by more senior staff.
  7. Participates on an Application Development and Support team as well as project teams under the direction of their manager, senior team members, or project managers.  May function as Technical Lead on small projects.
  8. Acquires and maintains knowledge of business areas relevant to projects and application support assignments.
  9. Acquires and maintains appropriate technical skills.

EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Degree must be issued by a regionally accredited institution (SACs, etc.)

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline. 

Preferred: At least one professional certification in specific job-related disciplines.

Required for Associate Systems Analyst:

One year of experience in systems analysis, design, and development, which can include college level courses

Required for Systems Analyst:

                        Two years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development.

                        Two years of work experience at an electric or natural gas utility company supporting business operations-related solutions.

Required for the Senior level:

                        Six years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development.

                        Two years of technology architecture.

                        Two years developing complex systems and leading projects

Two years of work experience at an electric or natural gas utility company supporting business operations-related solutions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies.  Stays current with IT industry trends and emerging technologies; suggests application of new technologies when appropriate.
  • Managing projects in an Agile development environment or equivalent experience.
  • Good verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.  Frequently presents information to their team and department.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental concepts of (SQL, C#, VB.net) programming languages and use of developer tools such as (PL/SQL Developer, SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft Visual Studio with Team Foundation Server).
  • Understands project plans and able to clearly articulate their role, project goals, and timelines.  Develops project plans for small projects; partners with Project Managers to develop project plans for large projects.
  • Comprehends technical design specifications and possesses knowledge of development tools and technologies in support of the Information Technology Architecture. 
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite. 

 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Work Management System support and management.
  • Knowledge of electric and/or gas utility operations and controls.
  • Experience with SCADA Systems support and management.
  • Experience with support and implementation of meter data management solutions.
  • Experience with support and implementation of mobile field solutions.
  • Experience with Middleware or Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) technologies (i.e. BizTalk, Oracle SOA, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS))
  • SQL Server Management Studio
  • Experience with Reporting Technologies
    • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
    • Crystal Reports
    • Business Intelligence (BI)
  • Experience with SAP Utilities Model
