POSITION CONCEPT: 
Assists the Manager Accounts Payable in overseeing the accuracy, reporting and key performance indicators of the Accounts Payable (AP) function for Tampa Electric, Peoples Gas Systems, New Mexico Gas System, and all other TECO Energy Companies.  This position will focus on ensuring accurate and complete AP Reporting across the organization.  It will monitor the AP function using performance metrics and use this information to resolve issues and drive key accounts payable processes by working across various internal and external teams and functions.  Working with the Manager Accounts Payable, this position is responsible for the quality of service for the AP function and resolving any escalation points which may develop.  Oversees other AP functions including Concur employee expense platform, budgeting / forecasting and departmental / company-wide policies and procedures.   

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manages AP reporting, related general ledger balances, and cash flow impacts to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting. 
2. Monitors the health of the payables function through the creation and monitoring of reports and key performance metrics.  Develops action plans to address issues and resourcing.    
3. Key point of contact in escalation situations to resolve and correct any issues / concerns raised by either internal customers or external vendors. 
4. Oversees the Concur P-Card and Employee Expense platform, overseeing the process and addressing issues that may arise.
5. Assists the Manager Accounts Payable to develop, implement and maintain departmental and company-wide policies and procedures, related to Accounts Payable.  
6. Responsible for budgeting and forecasting.
7. Leads and participates in special projects as required.

 

EDUCATION:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: High school diploma with advanced business or accounting classes. College Degree may be considered in lieu of equivalent experience.

 

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of 6 years of direct work experience in an Accounts Payable function, with progressively more complex assignments, demonstrating proficiency and leadership.
Preferred: Accounts payable, reporting / data analytics or customer service experience (or equivalent)

 

SUPERVISION
Preferred: Previous supervisory experience preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Proficient in Microsoft applications.  Good working knowledge of the Accounts Payable Process, strong written and verbal communication skills.  Works autonomously and performs well in a deadline driven environment.  Demonstrates exceptional judgement, resolves complex problems and uses best practices to improve processes.
Preferred: Proficient in SAP

May require overtime during peak periods to meet deadlines.
