POSITION CONCEPT

You will work as part of a growing team focused on delivering world-class microgrid control solutions, collaborating with colleagues and customers, developing software, deploying solutions, and providing exceptional customer support.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, test, and deploy control algorithms
  • Conceptualize energy and power management algorithms to optimize the operation of energy systems
  • Conduct system functionality testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and reporting
  • Develop control interface to energy resources
  • Perform onsite investigation and troubleshooting of control systems operation and performance
  • Create studies, reports, specifications, requirements, and test plans.
  • Advise colleagues on technical specifications, requirements, and considerations for project proposals
  • Perform technical support for customers and colleagues
  • Oversight and direction of third-party contractors

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

                                Education                                                                                 

                                Required:  Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering college or university

                                Preferred:  Advanced engineering degree is desirable and will be considered in lieu of some of the experienced required.   

 

                                Licenses/Certifications

                                Preferred:  Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, Professional Engineer (PE) License 

                 

                              Experience

                                Required:   Minimum of 5-8 years of engineering work experience related to performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required (Master’s degree in Engineering may be considered in lieu of some of the experienced required).

 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

                                Required:             

  • Understanding of weather and load forecasting principles and methods
  • Experience with modeling and simulation of electrical and control systems using MATLAB/Simulink
  • Understanding of inverter control functions and their use in grid support applications
  • Knowledge of the principles and applications of energy storage resources and the operation methods that optimize the value of those resources
  • Practical experience with data processing and analysis 
  • Must have sound knowledge of control systems and be able to independently evaluate and modify the system designs.
  • Self-management and initiative demonstrable by the ability to perform most assignments after receiving instructions and expectations only
  • The ability to handle individual researcher or staff specialist responsibilities and to conduct, coordinate, and supervise complex engineering studies and reports.
  • The ability to assist in training, orientation, work assignments and supervision of other employees, if required.
  • Ability to convey complex ideas and issues in a clear, concise, and understandable manner.
  • Outstanding analytical, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.

Requirements:

  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Ability to use common hand tools safely
  • Ability and knowledge to work safely around electrical equipment and controls at all voltage levels
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, including at trade shows and customer sites
  • Ability to communicate verbally to small or large audiences
  • Ability to access a variety of customer facilities, including stairs and ladders
