The SAP Functional Analyst is a technical role providing functional expertise in the implementation and support of the SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution for Peoples Gas.  The functional analyst translates Business requirements of the Functional Areas (e.g., Supply Chain, Construction, Service, Compliance, Locating, etc.) into the SAP EAM system.  This includes all aspects of project work, on-going functional enhancements, troubleshooting, and SAP provided system and/or legal changes. 



  • Supports the request and analysis phases of SDLC by assisting with documentation and estimates.  Executes the design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC by producing the prescribed deliverables, under the guidance of more senior staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining the highest level of data integrity by conducting data audits and making or coordinating data entry changes.  Works with technical resources to refine existing audit transactions in SAP.
  • Works with business unit analysts/administrators and technical resources to design, develop, test and implement solutions, maintain system setup, enhancements, and configuration to meet changing policy and legislative requirements. 
  • Works with business unit representatives and IT staff to ensure successful testing and implementation of any system changes or enhancements; supporting applicable third-party vendor relationships to ensure on-going support in meeting the needs of the Company.
  • Works with business units in defining, designing, and developing statistical and operational management reporting needs; identifies issues with existing audits and reports; creates ad hoc queries in SAP to provide data for analysis and other purposes.
  • Provides SAP Configuration support through direct contact, service desk, and referrals/emails/voice mails that includes query assistance and data entry process/procedures guidance for business units.
  • Coordinate system changes by identifying system requirements, definition, testing, training and implementation as well as provide specifications to non-EAM integrated systems, IT and other areas of the Organization.
  • Troubleshooting problems discovered during operational or supply-chain related processing and identify improvements and enhancements to the system to gain efficiency.
  • Develops strong business and system knowledge relating to functional areas and assigned business unit(s).  Supports the maintenance and evolution of the logical data model and business process model for assigned business unit(s). 




Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent discipline from a regionally accredited college/university. 

Preferred: At least one professional certification in specific job-related disciplines preferred in addition to the requirements above.



Required: Two (2) years of SAP configuration experience performing the duties of systems analysis, design, and development

Preferred: Four (4) years of SAP configuration experience in one or more functional areas (e.g., EAM, FSM, CRM, ERP) performing the duties of systems analysis, design, and development




  • Working knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies.  Stays current with IT industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP Solutions e.g.  SAP ERP Solutions, Plant Maintenance/EAM, and integration to FI/CO, MM, and HR/Payroll.
  • Comprehends technical design specifications and possesses knowledge of development tools (e.g. Solution Manager, MS ADO, etc.) and technologies in support of the Information Technology Architecture.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with business partners, IT team members and senior management.
  • Strong verbal, written, organizational, analytical and presentation skills. 
  • Proficient knowledge of defined business processes (e.g. Supply chain, work management, etc.).  Working knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies. 
  • Understands project plans and is able to clearly articulate their role, project goals, and timelines.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Comprehends technical design specifications and possesses knowledge of development tools and technologies in support of the Information Technology Architecture.
  • Ability to develop and maintain solution support documents to meet the development and support needs of the EAM technical team
  • Strong working knowledge of system development test phases (eg. Unit testing, integration testing, performance testing, user acceptance testing, etc.)


  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP Utilities Solutions e.g.  SAP ERP Solutions, SAP Industry Solution for Utilities, Customer Service, FI/CO, MM, and HR/Payroll.
  • Possesses knowledge of SAP Compatible Units as they relate to asset management.
  • Knowledge of SAP’s Field Service Management (FSM) solution (Scheduling and Dispatch)
  • Knowledge of SAP’s Asset Manager mobile solution
  • Knowledge of Critigen’s Lemur mapping solution
  • Knowledge of Mirata’s mobile forms integration
  • Knowledge/Experience with SAP’s Fiori
  • Experience with non-SAP work order management systems
  • Ability to understand business and technical requirements and manage conversion into configuration specification whilst maintaining integrity of overall application design.
  • Experience with integration of external systems: ESRI Geographic Information System, OpenText, PowerPlan
  • Knowledge of integration technologies: SAP PI/PO, BizTalk, SSIS
  • Knowledge of reporting solutions: Power BI, SSRS, Crystal Reports, SAP Hana Sidecar
