POSITION CONCEPT

The SAP Enterprise Solution Architect (Architect) is a strategic role providing technical and functional expertise that resides in the BIS – IT & Corporate Department within the IT&T organization. The Architect will provide expertise in all processes of procurement (source-to-pay) for the company. In this critical role, the incumbent will work with business to create and execute the strategic roadmap for procurement and accounts payable processes, while defining and planning technical solutions, optimal balance between cost, efficiency, and service delivery with AMS. The Architect Will provide deep skills and experience in deriving the roadmap using SAP and its partner products

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable for the overall end-to-end SAP functional Source-to-pay solutions design.  Ensures that system requirements are translated effectively into solutions and ensures architectural assurance is performed by overseeing the planning, integration, reporting, and standard development for the SAP application architecture.  Leads SAP Domain architecture governances to provide direction so that the organization can make appropriate design decisions
  • Assumes ownership of all Service Delivery tickets in functional area, partnering with AMS provider to:
  • Ensure application stability, data integrity, and policy alignment
  • Convey business context and priority to AMS provider, monitor progress, ensure defined SLAs are met
  • Monitor, measure, and improve application service delivery to meet business needs of functional area
  • Ensure that the quality and timeliness of resolution for application issues and operational activities are met within service level agreements and within legal business expectation report on operational health to business and IT leadership
  • Works with business unit to maintain knowledge of processes/functions relevant to projects and application support assignments, as well as maintains appropriate technical skills to troubleshoot system(s); uses understanding of system setup, interdependencies of data flow and interfaces to conduct root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Establishes regular business partner engagement to understand business environment and needs, provide consultation services of the existing applications capability, convey the operational health check.  Be point of contact for escalations
  • Drives impact assessment of any major change requests to requirements providing input to the Program Management Team and the appropriate governance/architect review for changes in scope and for the overall solution
  • Responsible for creating and/or maintaining architectural artifacts, policies, standards, and procedures to manage information systems architecture (data systems, applications, and technology) which would include standard development practices, software architecture, system architecture, business intelligence architecture

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required:       Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline from an accredited college.

 

Licenses/Certifications

Preferred:      At least one professional certification in specific job-related disciplines preferred in addition to the requirements above

 

Related experience

Required:      

  • At least eight (8) years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this position
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in SAP
  • Experience in SAP EAM (Asset management, and Resource Management and long-term and short-cycle work scheduling)

Preferred:

  • Strong demonstrable SAP Experience including full end-to-end project lifecycle in Gas or Electric utility implementations or SAP ERP (Finance, Supply Chain, HR/Payroll) experience
  • Experience with Mobile Field Automation

 

Supervisory Experience

Preferred: A minimum of three (3) years supervisory or leadership experience

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

Required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP Utilities Solutions e.g.  SAP ERP, SAP Supply Chain, SAP Procurement, SAP Ariba, Material Master, Project Systems, Warehouse, Inventory Management, Asset Management 
  • Demonstrated ability to champion a clear vision for SAP supply chain systems to be implemented and the manner for which they will support business unit processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with business partners, IT team members and senior management
  • Expert knowledge of SAP software applications and hardware technologies.  Stays current with IT industry trends and emerging technologies; leads application of new technologies
  • Expert verbal, written, organizational, analytical and presentation skills.  Strong leadership and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability leading teams in support of business process analysis efforts and educating others in the proper application of tools and techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct interviews with management and other department leaders and distinguish between business needs and requests
  • Proficient knowledge of defined business processes.  Working knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies
  • Understanding of project plans and ability to clearly articulate roles, project goals, and timelines.  Understanding of the components of running a fiscally successful project.  Demonstrated proficiency at assessing the proposed project plans to ensure all needs are met
  • Drives continuous process improvement for SDLC, maintenance, application support, and Information Technology architecture
  • Provides expert knowledge of work order lifecycle management with Work and Asset Management end-to-end solutions
  • Provides Plant Maintenance expertise with business and technical processes
  • Demonstrates experience with integrations of complex solutions between SAP technologies and non-SAP systems

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP Utilities Solutions e.g., Concur, Ariba, FieldGlass, Material Master, Vendor Invoice Management, Contract Lifecycle Management, Warehouse Management, Inventory Management
  • Ability to develop and maintain solution architecture documents, establish policies & standards to meet the developing needs of the business
  • Ability to understand business requirements and manage conversion into designs, configuration & functional specification whilst maintaining integrity of overall application design
  • Ability to assess emerging business & regulatory changes and articulate how these can positively impact the Company
  • Experience partnering in an AMS model with demonstrated results of timely delivery of operational services meeting service level agreements
  • Experience with integration technologies: SAP PI/PO, Biztalk, SAP ALE/EDI/IDOCs
  • Provides expertise with SAP Compatible Units as they relate to asset management
