POSITION CONCEPT: 
The Project Manager is responsible for overall management and oversight on Facility Services construction improvement projects. Serves as an owner’s representative with all external contractors for the development and execution of Facility Services projects and ensures all corporate standards and interests are followed.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage and monitor all planning, engineering, procurement and construction of multiple construction projects.  (20%)
2. Develop project cost estimates and manage expenditures throughout the life of the project. (20%)
3. Initiate and manage all contractual requirements for design, engineering, equipment, and contractors for all assigned projects.  (20%)
4. Manage project communications, to include identifying project stakeholders, resolving and/or escalating issues in a timely fashion and understanding how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully. (10%)
5. Ensure accurate project reporting on cost, schedule, status, and critical items which may materially affect project performance or department or company operations. (10%)
6. Effectively manage project work activities of TECO team members, contracted resources, or others, as assigned, in a manner that supports the project scope, company and department goals and standards. (10%)
7. Performs additional duties as needed. (10%)

SUPERVISION
Indirect Supervision: Leads project teams of internal and external members and coordinates/oversees activities working with consultants, contractors, vendors and manufacturing representatives.

 

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Building Construction, Engineering, or Business.  

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Preferred: General Contractor’s License; Professional Engineer License; PMP (Project Management Professional) certification; or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) certification is highly desirable.

 

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience in project planning or project management, comprising of any combination of two or more of the following areas:
a) Construction
b) Contract Administration or Contract Negotiations
c) Property Management
d) Construction Supervisor or Superintendent
e) Construction Cost Estimating

 

Preferred: Experience with cost accounting or financial analysis models and Tampa Electric Company financial/accounting systems highly desirable. 

 

SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE 
Required: Minimum of four (4) years in a lead role on project teams.  Must demonstrate the ability to manage conflicts while maintaining relationships.

Preferred: Two (2) years direct supervisory experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required:
• Knowledge of building design, engineering and construction.
• Direct knowledge of contract management, negotiation and execution.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform complex duties requiring independent judgment, analysis and interpretation of policy.

 

Preferred:
• Experience in AutoCAD 2010 or higher.

 

WORK CONDITIONS:
Extended work hours during evenings and weekends; and some limited travel out of town may be required.  Handles multiple duties and responsibilities and is accountable for related actions.  Field work in a construction environment required.
