This position pays $44.04 for Power Line Worker and $48.11 for Troubleshooter and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.The location for this position will be determined after an offer is extended to the successful candidate and could be one of various locations within the TECO service territory.



This is a VARIES position for an EXPERIENCED Journey level Power Line Worker or Troubleshooter and requires Journey level experience with Certification. Please contact Tasha if you have any questions at


A copy of your Journeyman Certificate and DOL Certificate (in lieu of a Department of Labor certificate, a copy of apprenticeship curriculum) must be provided prior to a phone screen. Please email a copy to as soon as possible.



  • May be required to travel inside and outside of the service area.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule as per current requirements.
  • Ability to work on energized systems and response to emergency call-outs is required.
  • Ability to make successful decisions in high stress situations.



Successful candidate must successfully complete the Physical Worker Medical Exam for Energy Delivery


Must perform all duties following the safe work practices and procedures set forth in the Company Policies.  

Line Worker

Performs all aspects of constructing and maintaining Tampa Electric’s overhead and underground transmission and distribution system including switching and troubleshooting and operation of equipment and vehicles. Work on energized systems and response to emergency overtime is required.


First responder to all electric power outages, and various power-related customer inquiries, at Tampa Electric Company. Restores, operates and maintains the overhead and underground electric distribution system. Responds and interacts with Customers to solve power related problems and frequently works on energized systems and responds to emergency situations. Works independently and must perform all duties in accordance with Tampa Electric Company’s Safe Work Practices. Rotating shifts providing 24/7 emergency response coverage are required.  Frequently works extended hours and days, particularly during weather extremes.




  • Valid high school diploma or valid GED
  • Journeyman Lineman certificate.
  • List of Apprentice Lineman curriculum if requested or DOL certificate.
  • The written portion of the Commercial Driver License Class A with any required endorsements must be completed if an offer is extended prior to start date.



*The below experience does not include apprentice line experience.


Line Worker


  • Six (6) months of Lineman experience*.
  • This position requires mechanical aptitude.
  • Must comply with company policies and follow safe work practices.


  • Three (3) years of Lineman experience*.




  • Three (3) years of Distribution Lineman experience*. Underground and overhead experience required.
  • This position requires mechanical aptitude.
  • Must comply with company policies and follow safe work practices.


  • Five (5) years of Distribution Lineman experience* and knowledge with Transmission Systems.

There are three (3) steps after your documents have been approved:

1.     Phone screen

2.     Written test

3.     Full day of field evaluations (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM), along with an interview with management.


Candidates will be paid the hourly rate of this position while participating in the field evaluations.
